I pick Ryan Leaf.
I know fractional scoring is not very popular, but could we make receptions worth 0.5 points? 1 point per distorts the value of certain players.
Also, can we make the flex spot RB/WR/TE? We usually have more TEs than we know what to do with, and it seems wrong only being able to play one.

We can do rb/wr/te or they have Quarterback/Wide Receiver/Running Back/Tight End (Q/W/R/T): as another option too.
For now switched it to RB/WR/TE
QB might be a bit much.
And i'm open to modifiying most anything, you people just need to speak up. I know BA has wanted to change stuff before but most things system wise need to be done pre start of season if not the draft, otherwise then locked in.

My primary request has been the addition of TE to the flexback option, which you already addressed. I've also said individual defensive players could be an option if people want to complain about not having enough defenses for everyone to have two. The problem with that is that there aren't enough kickers either. Therefore I like team defenses, as it adds in an element of roster management as to what and who to hold onto. Also, are you thinking of adding one injury spot or not? I noticed it's currently at 0. I don't think we've ever had one for LFFL, but it might be a potential change.

I'd also like to voice my strong support for team defenses. And an injury slot.
Hmm... Don't know what else to do but wait for Kat then. I think only the commish can invite players to join.

No shit, now i can't send you an invite unless i do one of two things...
1) send you invite to take over an existing team and you rename
2) completely wipe that team and any history it has in league so you can create a team from scratch....
workaround for now, added two more spots to league size so can send out invites, will reduce league size back when slackers like Beeb, Funk, Tim, Derspicy and Strix don't sign up.

I haven't "attended" a draft in years.
Wasn't there a lot of talk about how Arizona's D would probably be decent, but that the computer probably drafted it too early?
Yep it was me. I wanted them but not as early as they were taken.
They should have a lot of playmakers od D. Peterson is amazing as a CB and kick returner. Matthieu has the potential to make big plays and get into the endzone on D or returns. They should have an above average pass rush.
My RL keeper league draft is tomorrow and I can't decide who to keep. I can keep one of:
Ray Rice
Doug Martin
Jamall Charles
Dez Bryant
Any thoughts?
Pretty standard scoring:
TD = 6 pts
10 yards = 1 pt (with fractional scoring, so 1 yard = .1 point)
no PPR
Rice or Charles would probably be the best out of those four.
I'd keep Rice, mainly because I wouldn't trust any of the other players' teams. Charles at least has a shot at being a good portion of the Chiefs' offense, though.
Quote from: sbr on August 23, 2013, 04:02:39 PM

Charles and Martin will be beasts for rushing yards, but Rice gets touches and TDs both rushing and receiving.
Personally, I'd keep Rice for his flexibility out of the backfield, but I'm incredibly keen on Charles, particularly with the way they're opening up KC's offense he should have a monster season.
Depending on your draft position, either Martin or Charles could still be available anyway. Rice, on the other hand, would most likely be gone in the first 5 to 7 picks.
We have to announce our keeper right before we get our draft position, so I won't know that before I have to choose.
Rice has been my guy since his rookie year. I got him in a trade with my brother and have kept his since. I am worried about Pierce, will he really get a significant number of touches this year? I am really worrried about goal line carries, though Rice scored a lot even when they had others that got goal line carries. I am also worried about the Football Gods. Rice is 27 and has never missed a game; I suppose there is a chance he is the second coming of Walter Payton, but I would have to assume he will begin to break down soon.
I really like Charles, but I can't keep an Andy Reid RB. I would love to get Jamaal in the late 1st, early 2nd round but I just can't keep him.
EVERYONE thinks Martin is the guy, he is the highest rated of the 3 in almost every "expert" list I have seen. The good: Tampa's best 2 O-linemen didn't play a snap last year and they are supposedly healthy this year. The bad: ~33% of Martin's production came in 2 games last year. Without those 2 games he was an above average RB. I'm not interested in keeping an above average RB.
They're going to feature Rice, but Pierce is definitely going to see some carries. Still, Rice will probably hog the TDs. I think that Martin is being overrated. If you look at the Bucs schedule, I don't see a team like Oakland who will just roll over without pride and let an RB put up 250 on them.
Rice will still be the most impactful offensive player on the field, regardless of how often Pierce spells him.
I kept Rice and then took Charles with the 5th pick. Martin went first (after 10 keepers).
Win, win.

Even the beat writers agreed that, if it weren't for an injured Pitta, Dickson would've been cut Friday morning. At least's Clark had an excuse for being in town only 3 weeks, name over his locker is still written on tape.
Clark had a few drops, especially that big touchdown, but at least he caught something like seven passes. He also got drilled by Rahim Moore and at least tried to hold onto the ball in one of the most violent hits we're likely to see this year. Fuck Dickson. They can get that rookie kid from UM to run routes and not block very well, and he might actually catch something.
Besides, without the Pitta injury, Dickson maybe plays two snaps all game.
Furstenburg's still on the practice squad, but they resigned Bajema for obvious blocking schemes even though Furstenburg's got better hands. TELEGRAPH MUCH
Yeah, they really need to throw some passes his way so it's not quite so obvious. Kind of like the way they do it with Leach.

And I need the Steelers defence to come up big after Kaepernick shit the bed. Instead of passing to Vernon Davis, he thought it would be a better idea to check every pass down to a back, or just get sacked or something.
Still, it's nice to see Kaepernick come back down to earth, Cam Newton-style.

Then there was that one third down where he easily could've rushed the 6 or so yards to pick up the 1st, but threw to an incompletion to a well-covered receiver. Definitely didn't look the same as he did last year. Second year is always a bitch.
I got just enough out of Ben to win my game. Tavon Austin and the Tampa Bay defense were what won it for me, though.

QuoteWeek 8 Summary
Fighting Nixons got by Dallas Honey Badgers this week and replaced Puerto Rican Ninjas at the top spot in LFFL 13. Frozen Wetbacks gained a lot of ground this week, rocketing from 10th place to sixth. Meatheads went in the other direction, plunging from 11th to 15th. Meh Dinks is on a five-game win streak while Fighting Nixons has won four straight.
Meatheads just couldn't tore the victory out of my piss poor team.
Yeah, but I'm going to suffer a loss this week, so my reign at the top will be brief. It's bye week for Peyton Manning and Vernon Davis, and I don't trust Jason Campbell, Brian Hartline and Stephen Jackson to carry me to victory.
5th win in a row stymied by the Baked Alaskan.
These say it all, "If they played the same schedule as Toothsome Logic, Orton's Orphans would be 7-0" and "Luck has not been with Orton's Orphans, as three of their four losses have come when their opponent scores higher than their season average". <_< Fucking injuries everywhere, missed chances on the waiver wire, and hitting every team when they're having a great week is making this year miserable.

That's what happens though when you have an 18-team league. You get a number of players who have injuries, or who couldn't draft a worthwhile team, or whose picks just didn't pan out. Because of the size of the league, there's really not a lot they can do. Next year we should probably go down to 10-12, and if the demand is there we can have two leagues.

As we are using 13 game regular season ideally should have 14 teams i'd guess

We have to accept that an 18-team league is too big & ultimately for ~8 participants, no fun.
Why is it too big?

Player available after the draft mostly. As Neil pointed out, if you are unlucky & the injury bug hits your team or you had a bad draft you are out of luck. After a couple of weeks, having an under .500 record means you are out of the playoff picture & in a redraft league, there is no reason to keep on playing/paying attention. There is no way for you to improve your team as all available options are either a) poor or b) were already taken at the draft. The NFL is not a very deep league.

Agreed. I have now lost my 2nd RB, my top WR, my top TE, and had drafted for me horrible alternate WR's aside from Garcon. Yet I'm hanging onto the last playoff spot and might even move up a bit this week if I manage to hold onto the lead. (Go Bears! ) I skimmed the waiver wire and took some fliers on guys, a few of whom actually panned out. Hell, I almost managed to nab the Bengals WR who had the monster week last week but went with a Dallas guy and a Detroit guy instead. Whoops. Also, right after the draft (which a lot of the problems came from because I missed) there was still plenty of talent on the waiver wire or guys who were worth stashing for later/handcuffs to injury prone guys.
Yeah, I think 18 is just too many, even 14 would be a major improvement. For instance I got lucky and there was 1(!) kicker available this week for my bye week.
Often there are no defenses or starting players, whether running backs, tight ends, or even no.3 receivers in this league.
Makes it difficult especially if you get off to a slow start.

QuotePenn State Day Care annihilated Chcks Dg Yng Nxn 97.54 - 34.75, making it two blowouts in as many matchups. Penn State Day Care usually does well against Chcks Dg Yng Nxn, against whom they have a 55.42-point average margin of victory. In fact, this particular blowout ranks third overall in the league this season. This week, Andre Johnson led the way, putting up 33.95 points. It was even higher than the 22.88 points Sam Bradford got the last time these teams played. Adding insult to injury, Chcks Dg Yng Nxn had several starters score zero points. Penn State Day Care beat Chcks Dg Yng Nxn 103.12 - 55.08 in Week 6 and now averages 100.33 points against them.

Jimmy Graham is the key to my success this year. As long as he stays healthy I have a shot for the championship.
The high scorer for me this week (barring my defense doing well) is from my kicker. Second highest is Chad Henne. I think it's way overestimating my chances of winning at 1%.
With McFadden hurt, I thought I was in trouble. It turns out that Bobby Rainey is actually totally awesome. I guess the Ravens never knew, since he was running behind the Ravens line. :XD:
He's a stud. Last player cut before the season started; totally wished they kept him over one more linebacker.
Yeah, I saw Rainey in preseason, so I knew he had some skills. I figured when Richardson got traded in Cleveland, Rainey would be the man. I guess he got his chance somewhere else. Still, with Rice and Pierce on the roster the guy wouldn't really be getting a fair shake in Baltimore.

It's amusing how different the divisions ended up. I went 5-1 in my division, yet sit at 6-6 due to playing some of the damn division 1's most brutal. I do wonder why I played The Pistol Shaped Pastries twice this year. Seems odd. Anyway, it all comes down to this week... :pope:

Wild card tie breakers don't take divisions ratings at all.
It's Win-loss-tie record & then total points.
That's why, it's still mathematically possible that I make the playoffs, despite my 5-7 record.

Nah you had it, despite being 2nd in the league I didn't have a good roster. Too many injuries :(
I draft depth :P
Or actually, auto-draft does it for me.
There's no way to draft depth in a 18 man league. 4 of my starters went down including 2 running backs and when I went to get their backup they had been held on to by someone for at least a month. :frusty:
My bench outperformed my starters a good part of the season. I guess that's sort of depth.
Sounds like you're playing the wrong players and there's a reason for you being surprised at winning. :D

Wow. I guess so. Jamaal Charles is the first non-qb in points scored in our league this year... in 17th place. Also, it's damn easy for you to say, Mr. Peyton Manning owner. He's got almost double the fantasy points Charles has this year. :o
I did 4 fantasy leagues this year and am still alive in 3 of them.
I was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in the Bethesda Softworks Forums league and am in the semifinals in the EUOT league. I don't go to those forums much anymore (don't go to EUOT at all), but have been in those leagues for many years.
I made the finals in this one and in my real life money league. I have Manning in my money league and am playing him here in LFFL; I hope he kicks my ass here. This is the 7th time I have made the playoffs in the 11 years of my real life fantasy league and I the 5th time I have made the Championship Game. I have only won it once. I am the #2 (11-3) seed and am playing the #1 (13-1) seed. The funny thing is I scored 1700 points for the season, he scored 1600 and the next highest was 1454.
I would wish you luck Neil, but I wouldn't mean it. I hope Manning scores 50 points and the rest of your players dislocate their kneecaps getting off the bus today. :)
It'll be interesting, that's for sure. Manning has the soft Texans D, whereas Brees has to contend with the stout Panthers. On the other hand, the rest of my team isn't super-strong, aside from reliable Vernon Davis.
At least I lost my money league by enough that my stupid decisions (Tucker instead of Prater; Cleveland defense instead of Indy) didn't matter.
Strange things happen in Monday Night games for me so I can;t wait to see what happens here tomorrow.
6-7, 4-3. Not too bad with no QBs.
