Title: It's Official Spring 2015 Arrives
Post by: mongers on February 25, 2015, 07:30:30 AM
The mild weather has arrived, 60F here today, most plants in the garden are awaking, quite a few are now flowering.

So take it from me, Spring 2015 has arrives, that's as good as 'official'.  :D

What are you doing to be upto this year in the great outdoors/your garden?

We had our coldest day of the year yesterday so Spring is taking a left turn in Albuquerque.  On he other hand summer showed up a couple weeks ago.

We really had no winter to speak of this year. I think the coldest it was in Warsaw was about -5 C during day and that was just for a couple of weeks. Likewise, hardly any snow.

Paradoxically, lots of people are sick as a result, as it is much easier to catch cold when it is raining and around +5 C than when it is freezing.

This is the second year in a row when we get an extremely mild winter. I guess global warming works psychosomatically - Europe believes in it so we get warmer weather; America does not believe in it, so it gets polar vortices. :P

Some sort of horrific storm is coming in at 2 this afternoon and will wreak havoc on my fair city. Thanks for the curse mongers.

On the other hand schools are closed as are most places of work, so thanks mongers.  :)

Eastern Canada is still a frozen wasteland & will remain so for another month. Western Canada is in full spring mode apparently.

Not too many flowers blooming in that.

Up to 34 here today.  Supposed to be in the 50s over the weekend so hopefully all this godforsaken snow will melt.  This is the first time since I've moved here that I can recall a persistent snow cover that lasted more than like a day or two.

Lots of plants are starting to bud and even bloom now.  The concern is that if the weather returns to seasonal norms they will be damaged.  But given the mild winter it is unlikely.

It's sleet, snow and -1 C. Just because there's a delicate flower in South Mongershire, doesn't mean there's anywhere near spring in Norwegistan.

Some cold and snow today, but yesterday was in the low 30s, just above freezing, so it was like a heat wave. :yeah: Should just be a few inches of snow at most today, though some weather reports show another possible storm brewing for Sunday-Monday.

It's amazing how the super-low temps can change your perspective on what feels cold.  The other day I was outside with the kids in 34 degree weather and didn't even feel like wearing a jacket.

It's shaping up to be Cincinnati's 4th coldest February on record.  Coldest was 1899-- can't imagine how miserable things were in those drafty houses from that era.

Same. We had a cold-ish February but that was only about 0 degrees. Aside from that it's been incredibly mild this year. And it was last year too (though previous two were snowy).

Ending up doing the last 15 miles in heavy cold rain, strong gusts of wind and some really hard hail. Got home utterly soaked, boots half-full of cold water but..

Spending a lot of time talking about weather = a Brit, hence going native.

Ice and snow melting, sunshine and happy people. What the fuck is this?

Spring is here, too. I didn't have a cold during winter, but it seems I'm now getting one. <_<

I am leaning towards spring, but I like your explanation too.  :hmm:

They're all in spandex.

Not a leather jacket in sight. It's depressing. Rock and punk are: out. Running and cross-country skiing is: in.

I'll stock up on dry goods and get some decent firepower, 'cause it is on, happy people!

Springtime here. We had a few warm days over the last couple of weeks, had a lot of snow melt. Only about two feet left of snow on much of my lawn now. Got another small snowstorm day after Spring - neighbors and I called out "Happy Spring" as we cleared our driveways of an inch or two of snow. Then it got cold, very cold Sunday and today as it was in the teens (Fahrenheit) this morning. So glad Spring is here so we don't have more cold and snow!   ;)

Apparently it's snowing really hard in Chicago right now (my boss told me that earlier).  But it's nice here today.  A bit on the chilly side but I'll take it.

Saturday was shorts weather, on the other hand.

It felt like spring in Edmonton, until this last weekend where we got 8" dumped on us. <_<

Spring made a retreat here too. Snow and more snow piled upon snow today.

Yesterday it was warm and sunny, now it's like Antarctica outside.
Well, not that cold, but poor visibility and eejits in cars.

It's been cool but a lot warmer than our frigid winter, and warm enough to have melted all the snow in my yard. I think next weekend I'll put down the first lawn fertilizer/weed killer.

Yeah, I need to weed & feed as well.  Yard is already noticeably greener.

Hope Tommy grows out of his allergies.  I always love opening the windows to let fresh air in during the spring, then having to shut them abruptly when he starts sneezing.
