Hey Beeb, do folks in your neck of the woods leave their wipers up when precip is expected?

No.

Don't they freeze to your windshield if you leave them down?

With snow, no. With ice, yes.

Clearing the car of snow takes time, by the time you are done, your car and your windshield will be hot.

My (future) house has a 6-8 car driveway, no Garage. :(

Maybe with freezing rain, but no, not generally.

What is "freezing rain"?

Just kiddin'.  Although it's been unseasonably nice this December.  Woke up at about 7 a.m., went out with just a dress shirt (and pants  ), and decided to walk to the store instead of wait until the frost melted off my windshield.  Frost aside, it was barely cold.

A lot of people in Anchorage would lift 'em up if snow was expected.

On the 4Runner, you mean?  Cosmetic, I think.

I thought in Europe they dragged people like that from their cars and beat them to death while chanting patriotic slogans.  And rightly so.

We don't do patriotic slogans. Extreme right took over those.

I'm all for beating up people with SUVs, trucks and the like though. The only exception are those whose vehicles are full of mud or have other visible signs of proper use at the countryside, building sites, etc.

Like the long scratches in the clear coat on my FJ caused by squeezing through trails with tree limbs growing too close? Or the scratch on my passenger side mirror caused by scraping it against the ground on a particularly steep tilt? Visible signs like that?  :P

  Mara hates it, I keep telling her it will buff out, but if I buff them out every time I go wheeling, I won't have any paint left in a year!
