You have missed your target: you were aiming at "religion", when you ought to have been aiming at "immigrants".  ;)
I don't really care about 'migrants one way or another.  Mitch Garber is a Quebec businessman to me, not an anglo-jewish casino owner.
HVC and Josephus are as Canadian as I am - well, make it a little bit more ;) despite their origins.
Adil Charkaoui is a dangerous radical who should have been kept under surveillance.
Fatimah Houda Pépin is a former Quebec politician, she's as much Québécois as I am, despite our differences of views on some subjects.
It has nothing to do with origins with me.
I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

Well yeah; but in this case, it seems more likely that the Judge in Question's dubious statements were "caused" by the fact he's a right wing type from South Africa, than because he's a religious extremist. For one, there is actual evidence that he's the one, but none that he's the other. It is worth noting that sexual violence (and societal attitudes that perpetuate it) are a serious problem in South Africa, one of the worst countries on the planet in that respect. Is it any real surprise that a person raised in that environment and with no express training fails to have internalized Canadian norms on the subject?

Extradition treaty with China: yeah or nay?  What do Liberal supporters think?  Should we send suspected Chinese criminals over there to be tortured and possibly executed?

It's a tough call. On one hand, having high flying billionaire Chinese criminals - from corruption or organized crime - living large in Canada is pretty galling when they're clearly nasty people and they screw over our relations with China. On the other hand, there's no doubt that the Chinese government uses the criminal justice system in ways we think are pretty unethical.

So my answer is... I don't know.

Allright, we simply need to better select our judges.  The last time I heard such comments ("Women are like laws, they are meant to be raped"), that was in the late 80s.  Forgive my surprise for thinking South Africa was on the same level as us.  Well, it seems not.

Allright, it might not have been his religious education and his work at an organization defending religious cases in court, it could have been his raising in a 3rd world country trying to pass for 1st rate.

are they really the type of people China is after?  Does the US have an extradition treaty with China?

How's it work with the US? we have an extradition treaty with them, even though they kill people, right?

IIRC we only extradite if we get a guarantee from them that the death penalty is off the table. I don't think China would agree to that or probably even honour it if we tried.

"Up in arms", "betraying", you sure use loaded words.  I never said betraying, I never said he should be hanged from the bridge, so I resent that I am "up in arms" about an "hypothetical betrayal".

So other than him seeking a religious accommodation makes you feel all icky, you've got nothing? Just because you don't like something, sweetie, doesn't mean that you get to ban it. :)

I don't want to ban ketchup or chocolote ice cream ;)

I just want public officials to not place their religion before their duties and represent all Canadians/Quebecers, not just those who share their Faith.  And I want the State and its agents to be totally neutral toward religion.

You got to feel the love of Canadians :)
Quebec should seperate from Canada, new anglophone group says
40 people, and already death threats are coming :)

QuoteJohn Smith
I've served my country for over 32 years. I'm sick and tired of these spoiled whiners trying to destroy Canada. If you don't like it, leave. Every single one of these traitors (separatists) to Canada should be lined up and executed for treason. It's too bad Canada took the death penalty off the table for treason. Now's a good time to bring it back. And every separatist should exercise their right to drop dead for attempting to destroy this beautiful country. It's time they stopped blaming Canada for all their problems of their own making. Stop being Canada's spoiled two year old brat, grow up, and join the adults. We're just waiting for you to grow up.

Et oui, je pense la même chose en deux langues.

It's funny that an english newspapers will allow such comments to appear on its site, even after complaints were made (not by me though).

If you think that comment is bad you should read some YouTube comments. Never knew things like a cat video could illicitly such hate

If I ever were to become a monarchist, this incident would mark the my first step toward the dark side was taken:
Prince Goerge snubs Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

I got to say, the kid does have some standards and display better judgement than 39.47% of the population of this country.

Yes but your definition of what it means to not have religion included in public spaces is unusually strict and quite removed from any history in North America up into current day!

I actually thought of you when I heard about this. I wasn't sure which side you're fall on, being angry that the PM lowered himself for the future king, or happy that the villainous Trudeau was snubbed :D

Just think of what a bad opinion aliens would get of humans, reading the "comments" sections of internet sites and applying the "Viper method".  :D
