Talking to my mom it appears said family member was friends with the senior retired cop   . Crooked cop was known affectionately as mad dog by his friends. I had heard of him before but never met him.
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

Wrong ethnicity :P

And while I was born in Toronto, and have lived here for the past 18 or so years, I grew up in other cities so never caught the drake accent and slang

That's how I sound in both English and Japanese. Eerie.

The intent of the French translation was to say:
"My tail and my heart are racing / getting carried away"

The problem is, in French Canada, "Ma queue" = "My dick".

I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

If Microsoft Excel decided to stop working overnight, the world would practically end.

Not just in Francophone Canada.  :D

It always amazes me how little effort is made. Canada always wants to seem bilingual but it's all PR.

I got in to so many events in the Vancouver Olympics without any documentation or tickets by just speaking French. All the organizers and volunteers were supposed to be bilingual. None, zero, zilch were. They were so embarassed they would just let us in or pretend they understood and said oui oui.

Canada can be exhausting.

Bill C-3.

I did not realize what was the impact until today.

Apparently, a lot more people than I thought can be Canadian citizens.

Sav, if you're reading this, you may get your passport? ;)

I summarize a table in Gemini:
AncestorBornStatus under Bill C-3
Thomas~1830s (NB)Anchor Citizen (Born in Canada)
James~1860s (NB/US)Citizen (Born to a Canadian)
Grandparent~1900s (US)Citizen (Newly recognized via Bill C-3)
Parent~1930s (US)Citizen (Newly recognized via Bill C-3)
Jim (You)Before 2025Citizen from Birth

Fictional ancestor of US citizen born in British Canada who would have been a Canadian citizen had he been born in 1947 (no Canadian citizenship before that)

His son emigrated to the US and all his descendants lived there until me, an American citizen, and I want to become a Canadian.

I just woke up Canadian.

That's fucked up.

Apparently many Americans are rushing to get their Canadian citizenship now.

That's how we get to 100 millions. We simply include every descendant of any one that has been a citizen since day 1 of the country. 😆

My great-great-great Grandfather William DuBois was born in Quebec in 1811 and died in the California Gold Rush. Is that good enough?  :Canuck:

Man, the Canadian Refugee crisis of 2028 is going to dwarf the US's southern border problem of the last decade.
