Really curious why so many of you non-Canadians are anti-Conservative.

Two reasons. And I love you, nothing personal.

1. From what I have heard a sizeable minority of your party are fanatically pro-fascist. And in my experience the solid level headed conservatives really fucking suck at keeping those kind of folks under control, though I know you will nobly try. But eventually they will need to be appeased. So that just sucks. Kick those fucks out into that weird far right party you have, you saw how these kinds of bastards even as a minority fucked over the UK and the Tories over there.

But far more importantly:

2. The Liberals are very serious about opposing Donald Trump and his policies. As an American this is the #1 thing. I don't want some pro-American weak sauce shit party eager to bend over and take it up the ass, even if that makes some kind of sense in Canada's self interest...because I am trying to save MY country. Besides a conservative victory would absolutely be claimed by Trump as some kind of victory for him personally.

Took a look at the Abbotsford riding and De Jong is definitely playing the spoiler.  Would be sweet irony if that is the decider.

Real story here is the collapse of the NDP vote.  Secondary story is fall of the BQ vote.

Yeah definitely. Interesting that the collapse of the NDP vote hasn't gone straight to the Liberals. One of the CBC analysts pointed out that in the Southern Ontario ridings the collapsed NDP vote went to Conservatives.

Re: the BQ Chantal Hebert argued that it was likely an anti-Poilievre/ anti-Conservative sentiment, boosting the Liberals.

Conservative vote is up by the looks of it, but NDP->Liberal switchers are carrying it.

So that's how the democratic system works.  C'est la vie.

It's a pretty odd election compared to the norm - the Liberal vote efficiency is less efficient for example. And we may end up with the BQ holding the balance of power in a minority government.

It's funny though - 20 years ago there were definitely Conservative/NDP voters.  NDP was a working class union party.  It's either the cultural issues / Jagmeet Singh being a bad leader, has cost the NDP a ton of support.

Yeah. I wonder how the NDP would've done if they elected Charlie Angus over Singh back in the day.

I'm tired of this dysfunctional parliament.

As much as I didn't like Trudeau and his govt, I think I would have preferred a majority Liberal govt this time around.  See what they can do for 4 years.

Unlike last time a Liberal minority will not depend on the NDP, for good and bad.

You haven't seen some of the crazy ideas the Bloc has pushed this time around.

Maybe a vacation with Smith and Manning on one of Elon's rocket is overdue.  the 3 of them could discuss the finer points of a functionnimg federation on their way to Mars.
