Potash, which I recently learned is a real word, US tariffs are down to 10% from 25%. Time to levy an export tax of 15%.

No matter what Economic illumini Yi says there's no alternative source for 2025.

They also get 40-50% of their aluminum and nickel from us too, apparently . Probably a bunch more raw materials.

So looks like Trump is pausing tariffs on all items covered in the trade agreement until April 2.

See at this point, as my ex used to say, "Either shit or get off the pot." It's like, hmmm....Trump is using this so he and his cronies can play the market; buy a bunch of shit when NASDAQ is down because of his tariff threats and then "pause" so they go back up again and they can sell.

But as our Foreign Minister Melanie Joly (who, incidentally is nothing like my ex) said, and I paraphrase We can't keep doing this every fucking month. We need to say, look, either stop all this shit about tariffs or we will continue ours. Do we restock our shelves with American wine?

In Ontario Ford has imposed a 25 per cent export tax on electricity to three neighbouring states. Does he rescind them now? And do it again next month?

I think he will.

I think he's handled Trump well both now and the last go around. He handled COVID well, and he did OK with Ukraine. He's a good crisis manager (except when it comes to managing his party and caucus--but that's another story)

And less you think I'm being partisan, I think the same of Premier Ford. I hate the guy, I think he's corrupt as the devil, BUT---I think he does well in crises.

Yeah Trudeau, for all his faults, has good media training.

And I kind of joked about ford for PM, but if and when he ever runs I think he'd do well in the polls.

Trudeau certainly had weak points and certainly made mistakes, some of them egregious. Nonetheless, I think a significant percentage of the animus against him was (and is) created and driven by organized social media campaigns.

Has Trudeau really handled Trump all that well?  I will grant that he's been in a very difficult position, but he's been so publicly insulting towards a man who is so famously thin-skinned.  It seems like Canada has had a harder time than Mexico in managing Trump's foolishness, and I think the lack of personal connection between Trump and Trudeau is partially to blame.
