But that would necessarily be without any security agreements, still a more open trade network amongst free countries would be a positive 'light' to the rest of the world.

A common currency might be difficult, but a more integrated trading bloc to counter American aggression would be a smart idea.

That's what MAGA embraced in February 2022 and hasn't let go since.

An interview with the Energy and Natural Resources Minister (who coincidentally is the MP from my riding).  Interesting comments on where he sees longer term trade relations with the US.  Basically, in his view, we are never going back to the sort of relationship we had three months ago.  We will continue to trade with the US to some extent given the geographical realities.  But we will also put a lot of effort into diversifying our trade.

Also, interesting points about just how dependent the US is on our resources.

Add this to the list of things I hate about Trump.

We have a lot of serious gripes about Justin Trudeau!  Certainly including the fact he suspended Parliament just so the Liberal Party could have a leadership race.  Just when all of this US tariff nonsense is going down, none of it is being discussed in Parliament.

"Dictatorship" is too strong, but democratic it aint.

Yet thanks to Trump suddenly the Liberals have jumped 20 points in the polls.  Yeah, thanks Trump.

Thank god for silver linings.

The Conservatives picked an odd time, and an odd opponent for a fight.  At the same time Ford was telling the citizens of Ontario that he will give aid to workers impacted by the tariffs, PP was saying that politicians should not "dishonestly" take advantage of the crises to increase spending.

I think I was right, the guy is a one trick pony.  I would have thought he learned from Harper about what to do in an economic crisis caused by external factors.

No, the Liberals were always going to go up in the polls after jettisoning Trudeau.  And PP has only himself to blame for using Trumpist rhetoric when he thought it was ok to, as you put it, play footsie with fascists.

Those of you on the right who thought that that was ok, can now contemplate just how wrong you were.  PP is never going to be able to wash that stench from him.  There are way too many recent video clips of him being Trump lite.
