Finally saw Skyfall. I think, for the fiftieth anniversary Bond, it's just about perfect. It felt like a Bond film inspired by Dean Acheson and all the better for it.

I nearly splooged when
Bond busted the Aston Martin DB5 out of storage
.

Do you want a shit movie. What has Delbonnel really done?

Having looked the guy up, I'm quite surprised that you not only know who he is, but have a strong opinion on this matter.

(For those curious, but not too curious- he's a cinematographer/director of photography with credits including Amelie and several less notable works.)

Delbonnel is hardly low profile these days. Has done quite a few big Hollywood movies. His work for Inside Llewyn Lewis was one of the best things of the film (which bored me to tears).

Like what Dark Shadows, a Harry Potter, and one for the Coen's. That's quite a few.

Like

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and Dark Shadows.

Come on, he has *four* Oscar nods to his name.

Delbonnel is hardly low profile these days.

He's behind the camera, but not the director or screenwriter.  :contract:

Well, you've convinced me. They should use Deakins again. :)

Just because 11B is a grunt, a gearhead and a good ol' boy doesn't mean he isn't educated.

:P

Educated in movie trivia that would never come up unless talking with obsessive movie nerds like Ide and Cel. (No offense, guys )

That's a whole different matter, but that doesn't turn Delbonnel into a "shit" DoP. He's actually pretty great.

I was just kidding about replacing Deakins. Skyfall's cinematography is almost the beat thing it has going for it.

Also I may have thought he was dead. That's not my fault, that's his fault for being old and practically sharing a name with another famous film person.

He's just in his 60s IIRC.
