Cry-Baby. Cheesy and strange, but entertaining enough when it avoids the temptation to break into musical numbers.

God Bless America.  Sorta takes the Falling Down premise, only with more justifiable reasons, and turns it into a mismatched buddy flick that are surprisingly complementary.

Quirky and funny, and the spoofs on the dysfunctional aspects of American culture, pop or otherwise, are dead-on.

I worked with a bunch of film graduates from American. Very nice fellas, but gosh, were they useless.
