It's a problem in the show yes. Not helped by everything being in such muted colours.

I wonder if this being a somehow artsy kind of movie (at least it seems so) and not super-comercial helps having Dev Patel playing an Arthurian knight with no backlash from the usual online suspects. 

It's so common to see colorblind casting in Brit films/shows as of late, that I don't think there's much of a reaction? At least every time I see a PoC playing some anachronistic role I file it under "ok, that's a thing brits do", and move on.

But the brits of the board will know best.

I read an article today with an interestingly terrible take on this. It was whinging about the number of Asian characters in media that have British names.

I think its something that has been going on so long people don't care much now. It is something that definitely always bothered me in a nit picky comic book guy sort of way. How the hell is there a random black guy living in a remote 15th century village. What is his story dammit!

Something similar when he played David Copperfield?

If it was a BBC series adaptation I've no doubt there'd be outrage in the Mail etc. Because it was a colour-blind adaptation by Armando Ianucci I don't think anyone had any objection.

Or it may be that Dev Patel is very charming?

I think it helps he is Asian and not black.
The hate mob tends to be American originated and over there Asians are counted as near-white as opposed to the worst of the worst of black people I gather?

Also more realistically king Arthur is set in sub roman Britain (though this one is clearly fantasy) and the Romans in Britain did bring over lots of soldiers from North Africa, Syria etc... And brown Caucasians playing other brown Caucasians is pretty standard.
Even for white characters even darkish Asians can sometimes semi-pass as just being a dark white guy, fair skinned ones of course have zero issue.

I mean we used to get Romanians to play 19th century Americabs because 21st century ones are too fat so there is some of that.

There's a Quebec adaptation of Brooklyn 99. It's pretty much the same jokes but adapted. Right now, it's season's 1 heist episode.  Still awesome.

I looked up what else she has produced and ... yeah, haven't watched any of it, even though I recognize most of the titles. I think I'm not in the target demographic.

Oh it's great fun. Trash, but fun

Not as good as Cougerton Abbey.

Is Castlevania S4 worthwhile? I like the environments, but the bland characters and endless exposition can get a bit too much.

I've seen the trailer for that and it does intrigue me. This isn't normal right? To remake American shows for Quebec?

Yeah, it's pretty rare for fiction shows, especially from source outside of France. However, Game shows get adapted all the time.

My favorite random show remake is the Russian versio of It's Sunny in Philadelphia.
