It's so common to see colorblind casting in Brit films/shows as of late, that I don't think there's much of a reaction? At least every time I see a PoC playing some anachronistic role I file it under "ok, that's a thing brits do", and move on.

But the brits of the board will know best.

To be honest I'd not noticed/realised, which suggests it's worked.

Honestly I thought the period drama industry was probably a big issue in non-white actors getting decent roles here.

I've noticed it mostly in supporting roles, certainly. But I love how nonchalantly it's done. "This guy is the head of the army intelligence in the 1920s. He's black and in an interracial relationship, but we'll absolutely make no mention of it, or highlight it in any single way". (This from Peaky Blinders).
