Virtuosity (1995). Denzel Washington is a convict who is a former cop, Russell Crowe is a homicidal A.I. Pretty cliche and forgettable.
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

Rewatching I'm Alan Partridge. It holds up

30 Coins was pretty good; especially since I had no idea what to expect going in.
I'm actually on a Spanish TV binge, as I started to watch Money Heist (La Casa del papel). It's starting to get silly now in S.3, but the first two were pretty good.
Civis Romanus Sum<br /><br />"My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we'll change the world." Jack Layton 1950-2011

Watching Magi, a show on Prime about four Japanese young men who journey as a sort of cultural ambassadors to Europe during the end of the warring states period.

The production has some flaws (the music is horribly chosen, some of the acting is pretty amateur, etc.) but nonetheless I am really enjoying it - it's an interesting reversal of the usual Shogun-style 'Europeans go to an exotic world of the East' adventure. Here, it is the West that is exotic - the boys end up in Renaissance Italy, filled with amazing art and assassinations. 😄 No doubt it would have been quite the experience, to show up in Florence at the height of the Medici.

Best part is that, while fictionalized of course, the embassy actually happened.

Do they all fall in love with the same identical twins, with hilarious results?
Women want me. Men want to be with me.

Is there any show about Oda Nobunaga's African samurai btw?

He makes an appearance in this one! 😄

... though not as a samurai.

The jesuits show up with a big Black dude, whom they give to Nobunaga as a present.

Also, a movie about this samurai was planned - it was to star Chadwick Boseman. But the actor died last August, leaving the production uncertain.

Oh fuck. I'd heard about that film in production and was tentatively excited but didn't put 2 and 2 together there.
A quick google suggests a netflix series in the making? Or is this that?

Apparently there's also a Samurai documentary coming out on Netflix, called (imaginatively) Age of Samurai?
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

Menendez Part 1: The Day of the Lord. Troubled ex-priest has to help a friend's daughter that the friend is convinced is possessed. There are certainly worse movies on this theme, but the movie is not important cinema. It's a very dark movie, literally. The chick is hot.

Oooh a new Adam Curtis film that will be exactly like all the other Adam Curtis and that I will definitely watch.
Let's bomb Russia!

The premise sounds fucking awesome, but the execution will make it or break it.

It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

How many good supernatural teen detective shows exist? I'm at a loss...
