Actually the pay is very good, particularly if you adjust for the different tax treatments.  My adjusted pay is equal to $83,000 in the civilian sector, and this of course does not count healthcare and retirement benefits.  Plus I qualify for some other benefits such as a $300 per month childcare subsidy, etc.

How many years of experience to get that?

I got 19 years in the service.

Pretty sure AC is around 10 years TIS (maybe less)

I doubt I'll get E-6 this year (It'll be close, though, I think), but a good shot next year, which will be just shy of 7.

But it's fairly well known that the Army promotes pretty damned quickly.  Heck, I think there was a short time that I out-ranked you.

Ank has not been in that long. In the reserves it takes forever and a day to advance, not so on active duty.
