Seriously, I don't like these lottery schemes in MMOs when there's real cash involved.
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

When a game goes free to play I figure we got no room to complain.

The really aggravating part though is the game-wide pop up when somebody gets the big prize from those boxes.

name@name has been issued a Galor class cruiser!

That's why Martinus, for all his spending on the trappings of wealth and taste, will never really have class.  He's just trying too hard to be something he isn't (an intelligent, tasteful gentleman), trying desperately to hide what he is (Polish trash with money and a severe behavioral disorder), and it shows in everything he says and does.  He's not our equal, not by a mile.

Episode 2 came out today.  Also much fun, and explains / sets up what has been happening.

I just want my Cardassian bridge officer.

I also don't think an admiral should be reporting to lieutenants or breaking up fights in a bar.

"Report to Lt. <name>?  Motherfu...............................................................Please go tell the lieutenant to get his ass to my office right now."

e: The LT might have been a she, but w/e.

I'm thinking of signing up for the free bit just to be a dick.

Ganking a newb with a light saber makes George Lucas cry. Come over to SWTOR instead.

I hear that game is fucked up enough that they were giving refunds for digital downloads.  That seems...real bad.

Which one? TOR? Haven't heard of that.

Yeah, the new Star Wars one.  You apparently just have(/had) to call and ask.  IIRC, it was only digital copies though, no boxed versions.

E: This was right after release.  Don't know if they're still doing it.

And the final episode of the DS9-themed Features Episode series came out last weekend, and I finally finished it last night.

Again, rather fun.  The showpeice was a long period in an encounter suit walking on the surface of DS9 itself.  All-in-all not as good as the last Featured Episode, but still very good.  Again, given how the game is now free to play, if you have a character that is at least Lt-6 it's well worth logging in to play.

So I saw that STO came out with a new C-Store purchase - the Odyssey class, the latest and greatest from Starfleet.  The New Enterprise-F which has made an apearance in-game is an Odyssey class.  There are versions for each ship type (cruiser, science, and escort), and it is probably the best ship available in the game right now (though to be fair it is not an automatic 'I-win' ship).

Cost? 2000 C-points for one, or 4000 C-points for all three.

Which works out to be $25 and $50 respectively. :o

Wow.  I've bought plenty of shit on the C-store before, but nothing anywhere near that expensive.

And you theoretically can purchase te ships without making an online purchase - the in game dilithium currency can be traded for C-points.  But I think the going rate is 150-200 per C-point, and the average mission gives 500 C-points.........

got me an oddysey more or less for free a while ago. It's an okay ship
of course 50 green ones is way too much for that.

CountDeMoney

Hell, I wish more MMORPGs offered that kind of option, buying stuff with cash (sanctioned), as opposed to having to grind raid for a .04% item drop.

The Odyssey given away for the 2nd anniversary thing was completely free.  The ones in the C-Store have the same(ish) model, but different stats and shit.
