By the way, Jonathan Toews is a good Winnipeg boy.

and Khabibulin is a good Winnipeg goaltender. :ccr:

You know if only the Jets could have had enough money to keep its players (and to have stuck around town) they could have had a very nice team into the mid to late 90s...

sure. fact is nobody In Winnipeg wanted to build a new rink/profit centre using their own money. even the Asper's balked. so the socialists in Arizona promised to do so and away they went.

I'm not really a hockey fan - I'm just a Flames fan.  When the Flames season is over, hockey is over for me.

well, shit. you could have done yourself a favour and picked a better team. :P
To be fair, it would be difficult to predict their run of injuries and chokeing.
everybody has injuries. the choking part is perennial.

Though as a leafs fan i shouldn't mock :p
Indeed.  The Leafs got dominated by the Senators, who might make the playoffs next year.  The Leafs, on the other hand, even with their hired gun GM, are still decades from making it back into the playoffs, due to karma.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

That would have been difficult.  Ever since NAFTA, Winnipeg has become the most irrelevant place in Canada, now that fewer truckers need a place to stay in between Toronto and Calgary.

Karma? I blame the teachers and the MLSE. Why put money into being good when you can make loads either way.

What toronto needs is a team in Hamilton.

Yep.  The people of southern Ontario deserve a good team to cheer for, even though they're a bunch of NDP scum.

I only caught the 3rd period of Thursday's game.  CBJ didn't look very physical.  Are they really so limp or had they given up by that point?  They were down 4-1, but still.  Detroit has come back in the 3rd and won.

I only caught the 1st period of that game (then switched over to the Blackhawks pre-game).  Columbus did play pretty tight in the 1st & had a bunch of "meh" chances, but they never really challenged Osgood & Mason let up the 1st goal on the first Detroit 2-on-1.  My take on watching that period (& by extension my take on the series) is that Columbus would have to play almost perfect D & then get a couple/few flukes past Osgood in order to win -- something that I think Columbus can probably do in 1 game in this series & maybe two, but there's no way that the Blue Jackets are winning this series.

I would like to be proven wrong, but I don't see it happening...

I'd rather see the cup go back to Detroit than come back to Canada if it meant that Vancouver would win.

Whoa there, Pork Chop -- I have zero qualms with your Vancouver Hatin', but there's got to be another way of dissing the Canucks fans without giving *ANY* kind of positive vibes to Detroit.  I can handle that crap from charliebear because she's (allegedly) female & therefore doesn't know any better, but you should definitely know better...

I don't share neil's hate, but dammit your team is boring to watch.
