I just got back from Brooklyn.  Looked like many good little eateries. Sadly I couldn't go to any of them save a pizzeria which wasn't bad.

I hate NYC.

I was in Brooklyn recently and I think that you tell lies.

Oh and New York hates you.
First time there I was accosted by a crazy cat lady so it probably does.

There were some Moroccan places, Italian, and some pub style places that looked good.
PDH!

Oh I'll back up. I'll agree that there are places that look good in Brooklyn.

If you want to die by a red meat overdose, try any Deli (Katz' or Carnegie are the most famous) and order a Reuben.

L.

Katz's is great, you just need a thick skin if you don't understand the right way to order.  Have to get a classic Brown's Cel-Ray (celery-flavored soda) to wash it all down with.  :mmm:

Carnegie is great if you want to check out crazed harridans.

Waitress: Move in, I need to get by.
Man: I can't scoot in any further.
Wairess: Well suck it in. I'm coming through

That said, my egg salad had a lot of shell in it so...<_<

So, how does NY pizza compare to real Italian pizza? ;)

I never did eat pizza in NYC, and you shouldn't, too, considering you're used to eat the real pizza :contract:

What if it's a pizzeria run by Italian Americans?  Even if the pizzaiolo is Italian?

I'll bite (pun intended), what's the right way of ordering at Katz's? Also, celery soda? WTF?

Tonitrus

My experience with ordering at New York delis was to try and order a ham and cheese sandwich at a Jewish deli.

Yeah.  I ended up with turkey and swiss.  :D

He'll tell us that Deep Dish pizza is firmly rooted in history as a Persian dish, where it spread to Byzantium via Armenia.

Then he'll choke himself whle splooging over some obscure people.

Actually I seem to remember a thread from a few years back where he actually said Chicago Deep Dish is the world's greatest pizza style, even greater than traditional Italian pizza, and he did have some nonsensical reason why that was the case which we all laughed at.

His reason wasn't "because it tastes better?"
