BTW, DC to New York can be done by train.  They're the two big destinations on the Northeast Corridor.

Also, DC is a very tourist friendly town but please reciprocate the good feeling by standing to the right on subway escalators.  The left side is for residents to hurry to their important power lunches.

God I hate tourists clogging the left sides of escalators when I'm on my way home.  <_<

Do they not have fists or elbows in Europe?

Darth Wagtaros

Yeah.  Locals get pissed if you stand on the left in the escalators. Really pissed.

Anacostia is a nice place to visit.  A walking tour is suggested for a nice view of the cityscape after dark.
PDH!

No shit.  They may be moving, but THEY ARE STILL STAIRS.

Grey Fox

That's universal to all escalators. KEEP THE LEFT CLEAR.
Colonel Caliga is Awesome.

Yes, but we also have manners.

Apparently not, if you have people standing on the left on escalators.

They're tourists. Tourists forget their manners.

I might check that, the plane ticket between NY and Philly that I checked is around 300-400 $.

I guess that in the UK it's the right side the one that has to be left clear.

Yeah it would probably be pretty stupid to fly that one. A quick check on amtrak reveals that there are $45 tickets for the NYC-Philly route.

DGuller

I think NY to Philly plane tickets are so expensive because you'll be the only one on the plane who would be stupid enough to fly that route.  It's two hours by car, or 1.5 hours by train.

Caliga

  Aren't Philly and NYC less than 100 miles apart?

Off the top of my head, I'd say it's about 120 miles or so.  EDIT:  Hmm, it is exactly 100 miles.
