Someone always worth listening to:

A short 3 minute video, kind of sad to see him so run down, but an interesting contrast with the current WH occupant.

The BBC In Our Time podcast did an episode on a unique take American Evangelicals have on religion and how that shapes public policy and politics.  Amusing parts are when the host can't seem to accept these religious views have become mainstream.  But it does explain a lot of what happens in the US including those weird photos of Trump.

The Minsky Moment

Pompeo's position at State is untenable.  Yet another legit pol fatally tarnished by Trump association.
The purpose of studying economics is not to acquire a set of ready-made answers to economic questions, but to learn how to avoid being deceived by economists.

Trump is like one of those Greek myths. Everyone he touches turns to corruption, failure and eventual ignominy.

Is there anyone in the Trump administration whose position is tenable? Non-rhetorical.

Mnuchin is a putz but hasn't yet been caught in massive corruption and still seems to have an OK working relationship with his department.

Esper is a glorified lobbyist rep at Defense but no catastrophic issues yet.

It is fascinating seeing Republicans position themselves for 2024 and how everyone seems to be doing it on the basis of Trump winning in 2020, or, in any event, the GOP remaining a fully Trumpist party.

It may change over the next few years but I can't see anyone trying to be a "mainstream" Republican.

In that event, if Trump is still healthy in 2024, what would stop him from taking a third term?

More likely Nikki Haley now, since she just torpedoed any political future outside the Trump hegemony.

So apparently some of Stephen Miller's emails have leaked and they prove that he's neck deep in white nationalism stuff, surprising absolutely nobody. Will this have any consequence?
