Well, if this is a national nightmare in China he must be doing something right.  :hmm:

I doubt it is.

What do you mean?

Between being left out of the loop when it comes to meeting foreign leaders, to not being allowed to pick his own #2 at State, to Trump putting his real-estate-developer-but-he's-a-Jew-so-it's-OK son-in-law in charge of the Palestinian-Israeli discussions, to using his own personal lawyer as a go-between with Russia for a solution to the Ukraine, I don't think Tillerson will suffer this many indignities for very long.

The man was a real CEO of a real transnational, for fuck's sake.  He doesn't have to put up with cleaning up Trump's shitvomit everywhere.

When will people give up this zero/sum view of world relations/economics?
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

if he stands to make a few billions more before his death due to his presence in this administration, I think he'll endure.

never. I mean, look at those for example who can't even admit when trump beats his enemies (no china coal to north korea)

Let's see if the kids at home can recognize both boneheaded elements in this statement!

(Hint:  North Korea doesn't import coal from China anyway).

Since there is currently a vacuum in the defense of Trump space, I'm going to make an effort.

If Donald's much reviled comment about only defending NATO allies that meet their defense spending obligation results in increased defense spending, that would have to be counted as a positive outcome.

Weren't countries like Germany already slated for increases before Trump was elected? Russia's antics were the key driver on that regard.

What did Trump have to do with that?

Fair. It'll have to be set against any negative outcomes from said comments as well, of course.

Apparently that was the gist of Merkel's answer, a much more diplomatic sounding "We're already on it, geesh".
