Weren't countries like Germany already slated for increases before Trump was elected? Russia's antics were the key driver on that regard.

Never heard about that.

From last October:

Let's not forget that Obama already beat that drum too, and managed to do it without being a cunt and undermining trans-Atlantic trust.

EDIT: Does your moonlighting as Trumpeter mean that LaCroix been banned again?

it is possible in exchange for trump laying off recognizing taiwan, china loosened its support for NK

the possibility of a trump victory might have been the primary reason for this

So there is no evidence for this other than "Trump was president when it happened, so maybe it's something he made happen"? Has the man himself even tried to claim credit for it?

Yes, I'm pretty sure European nations make major budget decisions following the whims of US presidential candidates that are down in the polls.

The sun rose that day because it knew that Trump would win.

2. Remember, even as recently as a year ago, on this very forum we lamented how boring politics are, and how bad it is that career politicians have taken over politics. Well, we got that one seriously wrong, didn't we.

I cannot imagine ever thinking this and especially not last year when I was practically suicidal.

I watched other clips from Maher's show last night... so that's Milo.

Weaponized homo bitchiness.

After his pro-pedophilia stance I guess I won't have to learn much more about him.
what do ya know, being a nambla advocate even in jest will get your book cancelled from your publisher.
Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son

Milo sure enjoys pushing everybody's buttons. I guess these days nobody can take a joke, since it might get elected to something someday.

Disparaging women/blacks is okay - particularly if you're both at the same time as Leslie Jones has learnt - but I guess even reactionaries draw the line at children.

The increase in military spending was announced in March 2015. So what happened on the global stage at that time, that may have influenced this decision and who was not even a presidential candidate back then?   :hmm:

I can deal with this cat, even though he's a cavalry wanker.

He's too smart for this Administration anyway.  He'll quit when he's marginalized accordingly.

That does not represent me. I've been in favour of mildly technocratic, somewhat progressive government for quite a while.

Yes to all of this. From friends who know him (!?!) he is apparently a man of integrity.

Since there is currently a vacuum in the defense of Trump space, I'm going to make an effort.

If Donald's much reviled comment about only defending NATO allies that meet their defense spending obligation results in increased defense spending, that would have to be counted as a positive outcome.
I predict that Germany at least is nowhere near the 2% figure in 2020. Maybe 1.5%.
