I wonder if the Chinese are going to provoke him into further insanity. If they raise tariffs by 100% as a response to his additional 50%, he will explode and raise tariffs by 1000% next.

Trump could probably have picked a trade fight with one medium-sized nation (Canada or Germany, etc) and gotten some good content to feed his base. But against literally the entire world simultaneously, plus some of the nonflying avians, eh, unless he does a marathon TV broadcast where he negotiates tariffs with 50 nations this week, the whole thing will very quickly cross the rubicon into supply shock which then has knock-on effects on inflation.

Also, it's like Americans do not realize that global supply chains are absolutely riddled with hyper-specialized small firms that absolutely will form unexpected chokepoints and very bad 2nd and 3rd order-effects.

Celebrity culture. He has had a strange grip on Americans for decades. I didn't get in the 1980s and I don't get it now.

I have always hated him and I miss the days when hating him wasn't some kind of political position. He always seemed to represent all the arrogance, entitlement, delusion, laziness, and unexamined bigotry that I thought was the worst qualities about the United States and its culture.
