Yeah I see Owen Jones already writing in the Guardian that he wants a hung parliament and pushing a "we deserve better" list. It'd be nice if we could have one (1) day of a Labour government before the betrayal/"not socialist enough" stuff started

Also interesting that the Greens are becoming the new Lib Dems a bit - peeling off lefty votes from Labour in areas where Labour are strong, while also winning votes in Tory areas on strong NIMBY messaging.

Quote...wut
 The Liberal Party still exist in Liverpool and while they're not right populist or anything like that they are to the right of Labour, very localist and very Eurosceptic.

I find it kind of funny that the vestigial parties who didn't support the SDP-Liberal merger are fiercely anti-EU while the Lib Dems were the most federalist.

So the Greens are NIMBYs as well. Shocking.

Seems like over there every party is :D

Hubris must be punished. Severely.

Almost all pro-building nationally in principle, but the opposite locally in relation to every specific project

Ah, OK. No, the UK Green party is fairly hard left but opportunistic locally.

I remember when British spin doctors would do anything they could to avoid leaders being photographed near an "exit" sign, up to covering up fire exit signs.

In other news Rishi Sunak today doing an event at the Titanic Quarter.

In Belfast? What's he doing campaigning there?

No idea.

Looks like a visit to announce funding for Casement Park - but odd. Especially with Starmer in Glasgow to launch campaign with Sarwar (interesting to see how they handle Wales given the scandals around Gething).

Edit: Again he is not good at this stuff

Suspect this will be repeated with every local media he talks to as the campaign goes on.

Edit: And inevitably at the Titanic Quarter, asked if he's captaining a sinking ship going into this election. He did "the plan is working response again - which I can't help but feel is something the captain of the Titanic could have said for most of the voyage.

He's clearly just a master politician, learning from Trump.
If you eat nothing but bacon sandwiches then there can never be a bacon sandwich moment.

It's curious they've called the election when and how they did. I wonder what brought it on. Apparently they haven't even decided on candidates for a bunch of seats. With so much seat reshuffling going on this is a big deal.
Dick Holden, NW Durhams temporary MP who was bound to lose even without the seats shifting and has somehow squirmed his way into a senior position in the party over the past few years (expecting such a moment?) is one.
