In an unrelated matter, Afghanistan has just legalized slavery.

I just want to state for the record I am anti-slavery.

It's legal here too...just confined to a narrowly approved category.

Also, doing some research on the Afghanistan thing...hard to find any real data or concrete facts other than articles decrying it.

And most of those just point to how the Taliban imposed a new legal code that stratifies classes of people (also bad), one of which is "slave", and then notes how the criminal code adjust depending on your class designation.  (roughly, "elites/nobles" and "scholars" who commit crimes get a talking to...everyone else gets imprisoned/whipped)
