And a loss for society at large. :(

The police not being able to force medical procedures on the public at large, based on their unsupported word, strikes me as a win for society.

I love how you use the scary sounding "medical procedures" instead of "taking a blood sample".

Is drawing blood from a living body not a medical procedure?

Sure it is - and it has the bonus of sounding a lot scarier too!  Rhetoric is fun!

Whether it's termed "a medical procedure" or "a blood test", the police shouldn't be able to do it just on their say-so.

How much does those job pay outside of the Unions salary scales?

I think it's something like $16/hour vs. $22/hour.

Keep in mind that as part of the bailout, the UAW allowed new hires to be paid a lower rate too, something in line with that $16/hour.

That's not a bad salary in a land of no taxes & cheap housing.

I disagree.  A blood test is fairly minimally invasive.

In this country a police officer can demand a blood sample.  You say "just on their say-so", while I say "when they have reasonable and probably grounds to believe an offence has been committed".  There are safeguards in that a "medical practitioner" must say it is safe for the person to give blood, but there is no warrant needed.  Which is a good thing - it takes hours and hours to get a warrant.

Of course when you look at the article, in this country we wouldn't have bothered with a blood test.  Once the suspect refuses to give a breath sample that'd be the end of the story.

 I pay taxes.

But yes, housing is cheap, even more so in Georgetown and environs where the Toyota plant is.

Hey Beeb. What happens in this country if you refuse to do a breathalyzer?
