Back from 6 weeks in Japan. I've eaten well enough to survive a year on Danish food.

The Coca Cola 600 is about to kick off up the street from me this evening...

Hmm, and it's not sold out...  :hmm:  Is it worth it?  Never been to a NASCAR race before.
Not really, Coke 600 is typically the most boring race of the NASCAR season.  And by this year's standard, it promises to be really, really utterly boring.

Dude, no offence, but you were putting 185 yards on the big stick?

Well yeah, the time I hit the 185 marker dead on.  Maybe a little less, since it bounced back, but also to the side-like.  Most of the rest of the time, they were busy turning right at about that point, having started doing so several yards before.

I think I actually said this in the post you quoted?

To clarify, I wasn't really asking a question, I was saying you drive like Betty White.

185??

So you really have trouble with the reading then?   And I shouldn't have ignored "offence" and given you the benefit of the doubt?

To clarify, I'm not really asking any questions, I'm saying you seem to be really fucking stupid at this moment in time.

E: Maybe I'm being harsh.  I suppose you maybe don't know what a yardage marker I'm talking about looks like:

Anyway, It's not a plate on the ground that the ball rolls to and stops on top of or something.

Actually, my limited experience with NASCAR fans is they really don't give a shit if you don't bother their beer intake.

Right now there are boatloads of state troopers just parked in the median and shoulder in little groups.  I predict many: DUIs for this evening.   -_-

Almost said "staties" but realized I've got to unlearn the Taxachusetts Masshole-isms for the time being.

My bad.  I thought you were one of the guys who could take some needling.  I apologize.

They may be there to direct the traffic as much as anything.  These kinds events require you to rejigger where all the roads go, and the traffic jam after the race is an utter nightmare.

I can, when I know you're needling and didn't just fall down the stairs or something.

E:  Speaking of those markers, that's the one thing I don't like about that range.  They just have those things scattered around out there, with the one at 185 being the farthest out (so there's just nothing but grass and hills out past that).  The guy in the tee box next to me had one of those laser range finder things and checked a couple of them for me (125, a black/white one at some weird number like 163, and 185).

They need shit going out to at least 400, like at the place I used to work, and they need to actually label them.

Just don't act all liberul there.

To neighbor at top of lungs over the race noise: "Hi there, friend.  :) Don't you think all this fossil fuel consumption is just a tragedy for the ozone layer and global warming?  All this money could be much better used on compulsory health insurance and improving the teaching of evolution in public schools, don't you agree?"

Yeah, this is pretty much how I talk all the time. :P
