Notice there is no Thai on the bottle.  English, Chinese, and Vietnamese. I haven't tried this and am not sure if it tastes at all like what there is here

Hmm, the Chinese characters are odd.  It goes from right to left, which is the more traditional way but is becoming less common every day.  It also uses traditional characters, which means this is unlikely to be a mainland Chinese brand.  The first 3 words do not make any sense whatsoever.  It should be a name translated from another language.  The last 5 words together mean "spicy sauce that is sweet and smells good".  The usage of the word "sweet" is odd, given the context.

I just learned from NPR that Oklahoma has an NBA franchise called The Thunder, they are formally the Seattle Supersonics, and they are in the playoffs.  None of which I knew before.

I don't think I've watched more than 5 minutes of NBA basketball in the last decade, and even I knew that Seattle Supersonics had moved to Oklahoma and become the Thunder.
The post-Jordan era NBA is impossible to care about.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

It's not a Chinese brand, it's an American brand founded by Vietnamese inmigrants of Chinese origin.

QuoteHuy Fong Foods is a hot sauce company based in Rosemead, California.  Beginning in 1980 on Spring Street in Los Angeles's Chinatown, with an initial investment of US$50,000 in family savings after being turned down by a bank for a US$200,000 loan, it has grown to become one of the leaders in the Asian hot sauce market.

The sauce was developed by the company's founder, David Tran (Trần), an ethnic Chinese Vietnamese farmer (born c. 1945) who had grown chili peppers, produced, and sold chili sauce in Long Binh, a village just north of Saigon. He fled Vietnam in either 1977 or 1979 and arrived in the United States (first in Boston, then in Los Angeles) in the spring of 1980 as a part of the migration of the Vietnamese boat people following the Vietnam War. In the late 19th century, Tran's grandfather had moved the family from Chaozhou, Guangdong, China to Saigon, where they settled into the Chinese community.

That sauce, it's everywhere.
Colonel Caliga is Awesome.

I like the HEalthy Boy Brand chili sauce.

Something that is very, very lamentable in Austria is the lack of ketchup varieties. 90% is just plain tomato ketchup (sometimes hot, sometimes "normal"), and I stick to the North German Hela brand that I grew up with (they make a good spicy curry ketchup).

They have grill sauces, but they're awful, and trying to find any sort of decent barbecue sauce is a lesson in futility unless you go to specialty stores.
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

I've just read a 80 page Wallander story in Swedish.
At first it was hard going with every paragraph or two having a wtf word but eventually it fell into place with only certain police terms not working out.
Yey.
Now if only spoken Swedish were as easy as written....

Just heard today.
Apparently on Friday night a guy I know, one of the few other English students here in Uppsala, was rather drunk.
Being a drunken idiot he decided to duck under the barrier at a level crossing and a train caught him.
He's dead.
This is really....
WTF.
Just...
yeah.
I dunno where I am.
I'm not deeply upset, I just knew the guy a little, we drank together a few times. But...I'm feeling kinda guilty that I'm not more upset here. But I'm thinking nonetheless on it....Really weird stuff....

It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

It's 52 degrees outside and I'm sweating.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011
