Wait, what is the story here? Not long ago your elo was under 1000....how could you beat Andrea Botez?

I was taking studying chess seriously for the last couple of months, and it wasn't paying off for a while, but eventually led to a spurt of rating, so now I'm at 1200.  However, a 1200 would still be utterly outmatched against Andrea Botez, since she's at around 2100 level (to translate it into odds of winning, if I played 100 matches with her, I would lose 99 times and draw once).

In this game, she was playing under a challenge that for the first 10 moves, she had to mirror my moves if possible.  Because it's such a huge handicap, the Botez sisters asked players at around 1200 rating to send them a challenge, and I was the lucky one picked.  I was so surprised to be picked that I didn't have time or composure to figure out the best strategy to take advantage of these special rules, apart from the obvious move to win a queen.  I figured that after I win the queen, I should be good, so I wouldn't try to exploit the rules any more, because I would run out of time trying to think things through.

It actually turned out that being up a queen against a player of Andrea's caliber was not nearly enough of a spot, but luckily for me, she blundered a rook during the game, and failed to spot my own blunder of a queen.  Thanks to her mistakes, I barely eked out a win on time.  Normally I would never ever win on time against a player like her, because I'm so painfully slow, and professionals like her know how to play even with 10 seconds on the clock.  However, because I had such a crushing material advantage, I could force her to waste her time to react to my threats.
