I don't understand what this map is showing. The original source notes a bigger area for where food is grown that Americans eat so not sure then what happens. Whatever is the majority type in a given area?

I tried to find a map like it for Canada but with no success.

But understand the large majority of it will be different forms of wilderness, with a measurable percentage even being "ice and snow".

Think of it as a pie graph where instead of slices of pie, it shows the various proportions of each kinds of activities as a given % of the US land area.

Unless you think Maine is heavily urbanized.
