I don't understand what this map is showing. The original source notes a bigger area for where food is grown that Americans eat so not sure then what happens. Whatever is the majority type in a given area?

Think of it as a pie graph where instead of slices of pie, it shows the various proportions of each kinds of activities as a given % of the US land area.

Unless you think Maine is heavily urbanized.

Got it.

It's quite funny, though I suspect mostly if you have Irish relatives.

Can you add the comparison from 1941 to 1901 so we can plot the trend over 3 periods instead of just 2?  :P

Honestly, if military technology is stagnating, I think that is a positive sign for society.

Interesting comparison between an American and a European city (with AR and celedring as Languish representatives). The studied issue here seems to be transport emissions, but the difference in density must create all kinds of different policy questions, e.g. density of doctors, shops, schools etc.

Among the most annoying problems for Atlanta--that actually makes it a shit city--is that there is no effective public transport system. So while it has morphed into a major city that is threatening to break into the upper tier of US cities, it is impossible for residents to visit a lot of places / events in the city without driving 1.5 hours in each direction. The effect being that while I have coworkers that live throughout the metro area, we all really live in separate enclaves / communities and I'll probably never visit the restaurants and parks that they visit.

Military technology is pretty far from stagnating, I would not judge it from fighter jet aerodynamics alone.

Agreed.  There are some systems that have just about reached the end of their ability to be improved, like jet engines and tanks, but the advances in things like electronics, sensors, and software are nowhere near stagnant.

Are unemployment payments really that low in the UK?
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Yes, they're terrible. Its why so many get stuck on unemployment, having to balance whether you eat or pay the bills let alone affording to go to job interviews.
I'd say more typical is double £34, not sure why he got so low, but that's still rubbish.

£34? Is that per day? Per week?

Definitely not per day.
Sounds like he is saying per month.
Per week seems more right.
