Tourist season is here.

Please don't do that, the perfect instagram pic is not worth the risk.  :hmm:

How the hell did that person even get there? 😄

He jumped up on the lava and stayed there posing for a minute while another tourist took pics. This is a painful way to earn a Darwin Award nomination...

Sounds like the start of an ancient Chinese gay porn story. 😄

I have relented. After looking at the costs of more tests plus not really wanting to self isolate I've cancelled my trip to Portugal.

But I am still keen to have another bit of non-London time that doesn't involve spending time with my family (I love them - but I spent about a week there which is the outer limits of everyone's tolerance). So I'm popping up north for a bit of camping followed by little break in York (haven't been since I was a kid).

It should be very nice if not quite the sun and sardines trip I was hoping for.

My family was never going to go overseas or anything this summer, but for the second straight year we're just sticking to Alberta (instead of the BC or western-US trip we've talked about for awhile).  It'll be okay - you (and I) will still have fun holidays.

Travel here seems back to normal within most of the EU... Baleares, Greece, Austria etc. People want to travel and the limitations are falling quickly now. Even over Christmas people were traveling intercontinental here...

The German army as part of its withdrawal from Afghanistan will evacuate the remaining alcohol. The soldiers may no longer drink to safeguard the withdrawal and it is apparently not culturally appropriate to leave it there.

So they packed 29 pallets with 65000 cans of beer and 340 bottles of wine and will fly it out back to Germany.

Yeah - I get the impulse but I am slightly worried because there's not a common approach for people incoming from outside the EU. I feel like it works if there's a common approach for basically entry into Schengen/the EU.

And I just worry about variants arriving and that we're not quite at the vaccinated levels we need to be.

But I get that I am very cautious on this but that may be because the delta (Indian) variant is now the dominant variant in the UK too from a very low base. It will probably be fine and I'm just a panicker but you know

The world ends neither with a whimper nor a bang, but by peoples need for sun and booze.
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".

Yeah we have vaccinated people showing up only because their national governments declared us "green" and they don't have to quarantine on arrival back in their home countries. Hence Baz of Norf FC standing on a semi-liquid Icelandic lava field.  ;)

I'm not sure what it is, but though I love Victorian and Edwardian fashion, I just can't stand the hair styles. Maybe it's because of the primitive black and white photography? I just don't know. But even with beautiful women, the hair usually repulses me. Why?  :hmm:
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.
