Thanks, guys. I like a lot of English accents, but this one I had to stop watching because it was really grating for me. :D

I agree that it it is not very euphonic; Yorkshire accents are generally nicer than his.

I like all British and Irish accents.

Ever heard the Donegal one? Utterly incomprehensible.

Agreed. Also he speaks very slowly - but I don't know if that's just an issue I've been having because I listen to podcasts at a faster rate

I know there's a famous (West) German TV clip of a comedian doing a tour of Germany's accents - and there is something similar for Ireland by Niall Toibin which is great

I get a kick out of this own.

I'll look at yours to hear Donegal, which this one doesn't have.

You want German accents and dialects, nothing is more beautiful than Holsteinian low German

Can you give me a time stamp for Donegal?  I didn't catch it.

Larch: incomprehensible can still be pleasant.  Glaswegian sounds like a non Indo European language to me but it still is pleasant.

Ah sorry mine was just a general post don't think he does a lot of Donegal. But in Ireland even more than the UK there'll be multiple accents in a single county it's kind of amazing

I see your point Larch.

That's from the south of Ireland, though.  But yeah, some Irish accents are pretty hard to understand.

 County Kerry - incomprehensible.

I looked for a video on the Donegal accent and they spend 7 minutes basically checking every single village there, and each one is different.

Gravely dissapointed.  Are you grifting me Larch?  :glare:

That's the same video I found. The guy I talked with who I could barely understand was from the last place in the video, around the 7 minute mark, although I don't know if he was from there originally. A female colleague of him was much more understandable, but same case, I don't know where she was from originally.

Yeah - I mean that's not just a Donegal thing, that's sort of true across Ireland

But I think it's stronger in the Western counties with Gaeltacht where there are places with Irish as the first language.

Is it not the same in Spain? I always assumed other European countries were like the UK (not as extreme as Ireland) in having huge accent diversity.
