It's also called aging.  :P

So I'm reading Strategy & Tactics clip, and in an article about Vikings they say that burning a ship for burial would never have been done because a ship was too valuable. On the previous page there's a fucking photo of the Oseberg ship. What's wrong with people?
Women want me. Men want to be with me.

The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

It wasn't burned though. It was covered up, because it was too valuable to be used as a ship.

So, the next stop in the "If there's a riot, this must be Europe" 2018 tour will be Barcelona this Friday. The Spanish government is coming to town to hold a cabinet meeting. This was announced months ago and was actually with the mind of holding talks with the Catalan government, show that the Madrid government isn't only the Madrid government, etc... but the separatists consider it a "colonialist provocation" and will organize large protests. That's fine. Problem is that things are starting to get out of hand. Some of the more radical separatist groups have announced their intention to completely shut down the city and try to prevent the cabinet meeting from happening at all, by all means necessary. Even the Catalan government is kinda trying to backtrack on the hostile rhetoric seeing how things are escaping to their control. It's the first time I see them genuinely worried about what their minions could end up doing. I'm certainly not setting foot in town that day.

The other day I was the first on a conference call, and as waiting music this played: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh9h4KZpnJU

One of my former bosses once made a prank and had the on hold music changed to Benny Hill's theme song. Imagine that, on loop, for several minutes.

We're starting the construction of a border fence along the German border today. Suck it, America. :yeah:

QuoteTo the government's frustration, many Danes see the fence as being about more than just swine. Depending on their backgrounds and political stripes, people have called it a possible step toward blocking refugees, a detriment to wildlife, a reminder of painful history, or a violation of the European Union ethos of invisible borders and free movement.

Oh, and there is little scientific evidence to suggest that it will work.

I had no idea it would make international headlines. Yeah, it's a cause for concern that we're wasting money on this fence, but we're wasting even more on needlessly punishing asylum seekers by moving them to an isolated island for what can only be political gain. Another right wing idea that made headlines around the world.

In 2020 we'll be used by Trumpists as an example and not Bernie. :(

Damn, it did.  We were a non-Nintendo household and I missed out on a lot.

C-64 did well for itself sound-wise in the 80s.  I may be getting one of those licensed hardware emulators for Christmas :)

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011
