I think that might have been Blizzard's first game.

Interesting I looked it up.

Blizzard started out as Silicon & Synapse.  They started out by porting other people's games, then in 1993 made Rock N Roll Racing and The Lost Vikings in 1993.  Then (after being renamed to Blizzard) they made Warcraft in 1994.

Technically though The Lost Vikings came out before Rock N Roll Racing, though they were likely developed more-or-less simultaneously.

So, the next stop in the "If there's a riot, this must be Europe" 2018 tour will be Barcelona this Friday. The Spanish government is coming to town to hold a cabinet meeting. This was announced months ago and was actually with the mind of holding talks with the Catalan government, show that the Madrid government isn't only the Madrid government, etc... but the separatists consider it a "colonialist provocation" and will organize large protests. That's fine. Problem is that things are starting to get out of hand. Some of the more radical separatist groups have announced their intention to completely shut down the city and try to prevent the cabinet meeting from happening at all, by all means necessary. Even the Catalan government is kinda trying to backtrack on the hostile rhetoric seeing how things are escaping to their control. It's the first time I see them genuinely worried about what their minions could end up doing. I'm certainly not setting foot in town that day.

Well, the rioting so far has been small and concentrated downtown. 20 arrests, one of them carrying a molotov cocktail, but the police managed to contain them, and the rioters weren't too large in number. They also haven't managed to close any big road, just some shit backwater ones.

There's a big rally scheduled this afternoon, but given what happened this morning I don't expect much trouble until the evening. And that should be minor. I hope.

That's about the only thing from Buffalo Trace we can find around here.  Can't find the actual bourbon anywhere.  Wish I had known that before I used most of my last bottle to make bourbon balls.  They are kick-ass bourbon balls, at least.

Also, someone shot two men in front of it today - one killed, one wounded. Witnesses say 5-10 shots fired. Terrorism has been ruled out. A Russian witness says he understood the word "brother" in a Slavic language. Police know but haven't released identity of the victims. The shooter hasn't been apprehended yet.

I'm guessing mob hit. Or family drama (or both).

Ok. At the end the most noteworthy thing of the day is that some protesters punched a reporter from a Spanish alt-right media in the face, and now the alt-righters will exploit this until the end of days (one of the reasons why you don't punch "nazis").

Also TV cameras captured a pretty funny exchange of words between an officer of the Catalan riot police and an off-duty officer of the Catalan rural guard, which were on different sides of the barricades. "Aren't you a public servant? Shouldn't you be helping me?", says the cop, "I'm serving the Republic!", says the rural guard, "The Republic doesn't exist you idiot!". This place has definitely taken a ride to schizo-land.
