So, our government wants to raise the minimum wage by 26%, in a single year. I guess we'll be a testbed for all those minimum wage is great/awful theories, if it gets passed (it's not clear it will).

IIRC, the minimum wage here has gone up by that much in a single year before, back when it went from $3.35 to $4.25.  But that was a long time ago, so my memory may be off--it could have been phased in over a 2 year period.  Either way, I don't think it made much difference.

I think he was fired from his job and arrested.  He had apparently assaulted someone at a different protest, so he got charged for that as well.  He said he was trying to kick her phone out of her hand and that may be true, but assault is assault.

Pretty sure you also cannot kick people's phones out of their hands either. Screw that guy.

Anyway it really varies by school. On some campuses virtually everybody is in a fraternity, on others they are basically non-existant.

I was not aware that Sororities do not throw parties. Why even have a house if you are not going to party in it? But now that I think about it, that was certainly true at Southwestern University where I got my first degree.

At Stanford, sororities didn't throw parties for safety reasons. Instead they would co-host at frats.

That sounds about right, I'd think.  Not all frat member live in frat houses, though;  if it was stated that 1/6 lived in frat houses, that would sound high.
