Only the Gospel of default is the proper path to enlightment. 1666th page.

I didn't even know I could change it.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

To rent an apartment, it seems they need proof of income. Should I provide bank statement or pay stub?

derspiess

Pay stub, I guess.  They don't need to see all your other activity.

No, definitely get the bank statement page with the Golden Lotus Table Shower charge on it.

It seems I can only find cheap renting through craigslist ($300-$400/mo). Commercially-run places are too expensive: $800/mo when you add in all their various fees ad restrictions.

craigslist safe and reliable?

There has been a significant uptick in burrito consumption at the cost of fried chicken since moving to California.

When and why did you move?

I wrote this sonnet with less polish and effort than most- it was just for fun.
Less sonnet writing, more learning of marketable skills PLZ.

In general, I concur. But perhaps CdM's TV appearances would best be memorialized by a Lettow sonnet.

I've used craiglist to find all of my apartments.

That is very reassuring. :)

Besides cost, lease term, and utilities, what else should I ask / look for when contacting/meeting these craigslist people?

garbon

Generally I don't ask that many questions as I've scoped out neighborhoods myself...but you could ask about that. I think a key one on cost is to make clear (and then also remember) if it is first, last and security or just first with security standing in for last.  I guess also if you anticipated any special needs like a pet or smoking.

You can always see if you can get them down any on the rent though success on that can vary wildly.

I hated this movie. Hated hated hated hated hated this movie. Hated it. Hated every simpering stupid vacant audience-insulting moment of it. Hated the sensibility that thought anyone would like it. Hated the implied insult to the audience by its belief that anyone would be entertained by it.

Oh, I know.  I read it years ago.  Roger Ebert's a fine critic, but he's not the mouthpiece of God, and is often wrong.

North isn't great, but it's good goofy fun.  It's silly to begrudge it for that.

Ebert suffers from several flaws.  For one thing, he takes himself way too seriously.  He also is old, and is thus culturally irrelevant.  Games aren't art my ass.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

Me: "What his name again? Rafael something?"
Super: *browses files* "No, Leonardo [last name]."
Me: "I knew it was one of the Ninja Turtles."
