The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

The second time he kept complaining about how his leg was fucked up, too.  I asked him if I could help in any fashion after I chased him out of my house, but although I gathered he was looking for some woman's house, he kept being weird, so I sarcastically advised him to try knocking on doors, and went back inside.

I actually don't think they were the same guy, since the first wore glasses and sounded a bit different.  So it's extra odd.

You need a gun.  After shooting the first guy and laying him out in your yard the second probably wouldn't have come in.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I'd probably feel bad if I'd just shot a guy that came into my house by accident.  I wouldn't go to jail, though, which is a plus.

What's even more odd is that you don't lock your doors at night after the first incident.

Of course, this is why alarm dogs are useful.  Dogs and guns, that is.

You wouldn't feel bad.  You'd feel strong and powerful.  You'd want to do it again.  That's how it starts.

Look at me.  Liberal Raz, encouraging people to buys guns for self defense.

My cats growled at him.  If they were pack animals, they could fuck a guy up with swarm tactics.

Yeah, I should lock my doors, but I've never had a fortress mentality.

Locking your doors at night is just common sense.  A fortress mentality would be stocking up on provisions and installing punji pits.

I thought it was "locking them while you're asleep," but I guess that applies in the first case. -_-

Compound word?  A Portmanteau can be when you combine two words together, or just two parts of two separate words.  Like edutainment or carjack.
