It's a shame that Zelensky could not handle this better, this gives the Americans and Russians arguments to use. I don't expect any behaviour to result in proper support from the US.

The western leaders must understand that it doesn't matter how much they charm Trump, Russian assets have his ear 24/7. Sure, if Zelensky would have had more kindergarten experience he might have made a good impression, but that doesn't matter since Trump would change his mind a week later anyway.

I don't think he walked into this expecting to make a stand.  Towards the start of the event, there was some gentle "corrections" that he made, making clear that he had watched Macron/Starmer and was trying to follow that example.

What appeared happened to me, is that he tried to correct/improve something the VP said, and then the VP jumped on him.  Thing went downhill from there, and drew out the POTUS' more invective/bias side (which, in fairness, he had almost completely withheld up to that point).

The whole "you haven't thanked us enough" descent into childishness was the most humiliation on display.

I watched it a couple times to try and analyze where things went tits-up.  There wasn't any groveling before the blow-up, I think it was actually going quite well (balanced with low expectations).

Doesn't change much. Soldiers estimate they have enough american kit to last at least til the end on 2025. The big news on the front is the ZSU has deployed jammers everywhere and the russians glide bombs are now hitting random fields instead of their intended target. That's been a huge morale boost.

russia's assaults have sharply decreased too. A cease-fire is what putin needs right now.

Why the Vice President is even at something like this makes no sense from a traditional standpoint. Truman wasn't sitting beside Roosevelt at Yalta. Hell Pence wasn't sitting there with Trump in his first term at things like this.

But clearly he was there to sabotage the whole thing and we saw what he did with Zelensky's very tame comments earlier, he spun them as some kind of grave insult to the clown prince of Trumpistan. So mission accomplished I guess.

Really makes me turn on Christianity as well. It is one thing to justify in retrospect how so many churches supported and profited from things like slavery, but it is another to live through an era where churches are not just going along with evil things but driving the bus.
