I do share your sentiment, and I've tried to argue it, without any success, with the local 5th column.  What's worst is the left wing tendancy to accept the same when it comes to their own morons.  I feel like I'm trapped, without any future.

It's a high price to pay just to get some holy rollers on the federal courts and a fat tax break for passive limited partnerships.

I tend to think the crux of the problem is that the GOP leadership likes that they're getting most of their agenda implemented, and realize that comes best through the Executive branch than it does through the Congress.  With Trump, they don't need to worry about legislating cuts to the federal workforce or programs...Trump will simply just not fill posts, and effectively neuter the executive implementation of federal tasks/responsibilities.

And the only thing it costs them is some foreign trade tariffs and their dignity/integrity.

States (or countries) that produce significant quantities of wine are more likely to consume more as well.  California is by far the biggest wine producing state, followed by Washington, New York and Oregon.  So geography may be a big driver of the wine-beer divide.
