It's not enough to just disbelieve global warming.  These patriots are turning their words into actions!

Yep. It's a much larger movement, too, which attacks everything associated with ecological protection - along with people who modify their trucks to be more polluting (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_coal), and larger anti-cyclists sentiment.

Slightly related, at long, overdue, last, today on Meet the Press:

"But just as important as what we are going to do this hour is what we're not going to do. We're not going to debate climate change, the existence of it. The Earth is getting hotter. And human activity is a major cause, period. We're not going to give time to climate deniers."

A French reservist holidaying in Barcelona had the genius idea of visiting La Sagrada Familia... carrying several 9mm magazines in his backpack, plus some knives.

Looks more thick as mince than terrorist, but so far he's got himself a new year's eve in the Catalan police cells.

The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.   -G'Kar

So, the far right party whose votes the right needs in order to oust the socialists from Andalusia has put MEN'S RIGHTS!!!!1111 as their priority demand. This is... odd.  Odd in the sense that they'd put it above kicking job and benefit-robbing immigrants, stopping those resentful lefties from disrespecting Franco, and other traditional Spanish far right tenets.

There's just no way that the conservatives/liberals will agree (the leader of the liberals has already said they won't negotiate anything of that sort), that's easily the poisonliest pill in their entire platform.

What the hell counts as "MENS RIGHTS!!!!1111" for them?

It's much like WOmen's Rights - it's a no brainer that women should have equal rights (or at least it should be), just the same for men.  The devil however is in the details...

They want the regional government to defund programs to prevent domestic violence and disband the government bodies created to coordinate them.

It is a really odd demand, but they seem obsessed with the issue. They'd be more likely to get the other parties to agree (sadly, I'd add) if they pressed on immigration.

I assumed it was probably as much, but thought I'd ask.

The Larch

For those people who luckily sit firmly in the fringe of Spanish politics, the current laws against domestic violence are basically tantamount to feminazism, and the bare mention of the issue makes them foam and sputter, showing their true colours. In this sense it makes for a pretty good lithmus test.
