I'm not watching that garbage. If I want to see men take a huge dump on something I can watch German cable.

Just watched the recent four "General Krell" episodes of Clone Wars. Extremely good.

The clone trooper stories tend to be among the better of the series, and this has easily been the best so far. The 501st is sent to a planet that's perpetually shrouded in darkness and shadows. Skywalker is recalled to Coruscant, so the troops are placed under command of General Krell who has a reputation of getting the job done . . . with very high casualty numbers.

Quite some allusions to Guadalcanal (having to take and hold an important airbase) and bits about Vietnam, and a lot of conflict between a "bad commander" and the "good soldiers" torn between loyalty/duty and doing what they think is "right".

I have to admit, it's impressive that George Lucas managed to come up with a war with two distinctive sides (clones, robots), that invoke zero empathy, pathos, or interest at all.  That's a brilliant way to make a war dull and uninteresting.  And no, I didn't watch the "Clone wars" or that animated move or whatever.  Bleh.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

First Corollary - "You cannot have too many soldiers, only too few supplies."

A terrorist which starts a slaughter quoting Locke, Burke and Mill has completely missed the point.

Last night's Boardwalk Empire was HOTT.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

I've got The Ref ready for my Christmas movie viewing tonight.

Boardwalk Empire- Has this show been canceled or something? That episode really did feel like a "oh crap, so little time left, better start wrapping everything up!" one. The ick scene- hmm, wow, it was looking a bit...love sceney from the start. I was getting that sort of vibe and put it down to just things being weird...but....yeah....they went the whole way.

Supernatural- Am I the only one who used to really like this show but doesn't care now? I'm a  good 2 episodes behind, the last series was meh, this one...totally meh. Last episode I saw was the one where Sam gets married. I missed the bit where Bobby called and so I thought that the hunter guy with Dean was also some wish granted person, he did seem like some sort of unfeasibly Deaner than Dean Mary Sue.

Homeland- Started watching this late, am only up to episode 5 or so. It is rather good.

Walking Dead- So was last weeks the last in the series? Lame. I want them to get a move on now things are concluded bar the final talk at the farm.
