That's the joke.

Oh my goodness

You know you're getting very old when you have to explain a cultural reference.

Back in the day travellers to Mexico cold getting sick Montezuma's revenge.  You know the Spanish famously conquered the Aztecs.

I couldn't think of a American person to name the revenge after, so I named the place.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

Indeed, but not for quite a few years. An investment in nuclear is an investment in no better power generation capabilities are developed during the investment recoupment period.

Governments can afford that sort of risk, but history tells us that private companies attempting this go bankrupt.

No question that is true.  And it's a very good reason why electrical utilities shouldn't be private.

Today marks the 15th anniversary of the massacre at Utøya and the Oslo bomb. 77 dead.
In terms of change of attitudes, I would say those 15 years have mostly seen a legitimisation of the hard right and insane attitudes of the terrorist. A day of profound and deep sadness.

It was also my first and only appearance on national television*, as a source.

* not entirely true as I was also in two "Jeopardy!" contests and had a very minor role in a play shown on TV

I've been thinking I should get a new phone. I've had Samsungs the past decade but have been considering going for a Sony.
Far cheaper, much better battery life, and all that seems to be lost is no uhd video.
Anyone tried one?

I think it has been a decade since I had a Sony, but I remember it as the one that survived the rinse cycle of my washing machine.

Samsungs have been my friend, but battery life is an issue. Now I have a three year old One Plus, and it is kind of fading in battery life.

My old Galaxy S3 was a tank. Then I switch to Google's pixel phones and the first broke after a few years, then the second broke after just one year, so I switched to iPhone. My iPhone SE just passed four years and is still going strong, though the battery is about due for replacement.

I used a LG Velvet for 6 years. Those LG phones were tanks. Such a shame they quit on us.

Now I have a OnePlus, they are also quitting on us. Stupid Americans and their love only for iphones.

Don't blame America, blame the non-Apple companies for making cheap shit.
Say what you will about Apple, but at least in my experience their stuff holds up well over the years.
My wife's iPhone is even older than mine, and my MacBook Pro is 12 years old and still going strong (albeit with a new SSD, upgraded RAM, and I replaced the trackpad and battery).

Yeah phones are the one thing where I actually like Apple  I went to a Samsung and just struggled to ever get behind the Android interface.

And also I hate big phones and they're not regular but Apple do always have at least one model that is an appropriate size for a phone.
