A sovereign investment fund is a long overdue step in Canada's coming of age as a country rather than a colony. It's great news.

I am impressed how quickly things are changing to meet the American threat.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

I am impressed with how little the US media or the people give a fuck. Millions of hours of coverage of ballrooms and Presidential tweets. Zero hours on our collapsing relationship with out biggest trade partner that will cost us billions.

Feels like a lot of people think "too bit to fail" applies to nation-states as well...

Historically Americans in general have not paid much attention to what happens in Canada.  So I am not surprised that has not changed.

Our move towards Europe (and NATO) continues in a fairly dramatic way.

QuoteCanada has been selected as the host nation of a new multilateral defence bank as negotiations among the founding countries ended in Montreal Wednesday, according to two sources.

The federal government confirmed the decision, made after the final of three rounds of negotiations hosted by Canada and involving the 19 founding countries of the Defence, Security and Resilience Bank.

Once again, the United States will probably not notice or understand what this means.

Yeah, Buffalo's pretty nice with our anthem. They sing it even when no Canadian team are involved. When the Habs are in town they sing the bilingual version.

We should annex Buffalo

I think the writer of that report was missing the bigger point.  Buffalo has always done that.  It has nothing to do with the current political climate as that story seems to suggest.

The bigger point is that there has historically been a very close connection between parts of the United States and Canada.

That is part of what makes the current US regime's actions so bewildering.

The border states vs the rest of the states are a totally different story wrt their knowledge and affinity of Canada.

I'm not sure you can group them together like that. Idaho is very different from the situation in northern New York State.

Buffalo itself is very different from the rest of New York State.

Also, I'm not sure the writer of the article realized that a sizeable amount of that crowd were Canadian buffalo Sabre season ticket holders.

The border areas of the more liberal states.

Get to Maine, very near the border of Quebec, and people are very friendly, often speak French too.  Lots of them have Canadian ancestry in a not so distant past.

Get deeper in some parts of Maine, and there's a lot of Trump supporters, more than you'd expect.  It varies widely.

Same for every border states.  Buffalo is close to the Ontario border that a lot of Toronto fans are crossing to see the games and vice-versa I imagine.
