I think he'd be wise (or should have already) to step back and be an "elder statesman"...and especially so he wants to stay in after 2028.

That said, I am not sure I would likely be impressed by his likely replacement.  I don't know enough about Schatz...but that is somewhat telling in itself in that he has been kind of invisible.

Are you impressed with him? At least the new leader would have an opportunity to start fresh.

The only Dems that I've impressed me so far, from a distance have been (in no particular order):
- Newsom
- Crockett, rejected by Texas for some Republican in Dem clothes (Talarico)
- AOC
- the old man making long speeches
- Waltz, on the way out.

Unimpressed by Pete Buttigiege? You should pay more attention. He's easily more impressive than anyone on your list, bar maybe AOC.

I like what I've heard about Pritzker.

I'm not confident that the Democrats can ultimately succeed against the growing tide of autocracy though. But in my mental fantasy Pritzker comes across as a new FDR.

Impressed with Schumer?  Not at all.  Impressed with Schatz?  As I said, haven't seen him enough.

We were talking about the Senate...none of those listed are in the Senate.

Unless the "old man" is Bernie Sanders...and I don't think he'd want to be the Democrat leader in the Senate, namely, because he is not a Democrat, nor do I think he'd want the job even as an independent.

No, I don't know all Senators.  I was speaking for the Congress in general, given the elections are coming in November, they all seem silent, House and Senate.

Well let's give him a chance. Or somebody anyway. Our current leadership has about a 20% approval rating. Just getting rid of them is addition by subtraction.

Ok, when I do hear him, he speaks well and he makes good point, you're right.

Somehow, he doesn't seem to have reach on social medias, or on medias in general.

I have to search for him, like really.  The others pop up on YT, FB, or Reddit.  Pete, unless I happen to look at what the Dems did last week, I kind don't see him reported.

Probably because he tends to speak a lot on Fox News.

Talarico is a Republican? LOL?

Talarico had been running for this seat going across the state for over a year. I love Crockett but she jumped in at the last second. Talarico was already my guy.

I get Bush Jr vibe from him.  the only word out of his mouth is "Jesus".  I know you guys love this, but I think you'll eventually regret that.

Not really. That is just what people want to hear. He talks about lots of things.

And I think we do need to remind people that Christianity is not just bloodthirsty imperialism and racism.

But the alternative is Ken Paxton and John Cornyn. What the fuck could I possibly regret? Not having my state represented by monstrous people?

Talarico is Christian and very much so, but he's been A+ on separation of Church and State and denouncing Republican hypocrisy on that subject time and time again. I think you're quite wrong on that one Viper.

Jacob

I don't have a problem with someone trying to wrest the mantle of Christianity in the US away from the satanic Christian Nationalists currently in control of the US government.
