Yep, that was the headline I woke up to. Fucking Russians.

Dutch fighters also took part.

It is being reported that Poland has invoked Article 4.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

The russians are moving to actively probing NATO. Time to really start fucking them up around the Baltic.

More details, this was a NATO response under Article 4.  Very glad to see this.

QuoteNATO air forces scrambled to confront the incursion. They included Polish F-16 fighters, Dutch F-35 fighters, German Patriot air defense systems and an Italian AWACS surveillance aircraft, according to Mark Rutte, NATO's secretary general. There were no immediate reports of casualties in Poland.

Moment of truth for us in the USA.  What will Agent Krasnov do?
We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

I wondered why no US forces were involved in countering the threat.  I hope it was because there were no US assets in the area that could have assisted.

If true, that would also be concerning

Probably just not in the area.  Unless part of a NATO rotation, the closest appropriate US assets would be in the far west of Germany or northern Italy.  The Dutch F-35s that assisted were already deployed in Poland under NATO.

I'd guess not in the area. I think NATO forces in Poland and the Baltics rotate fairly regularly - I think every 6 months or so different members deploy.
Let's bomb Russia!

Glad we have the Finns onside. That's a long border the European alliance can fuck with Russia on.

Zmiinyi defenders: "Russian warship, go fuck yourself."

We really should be having scary looking training exercises in Finland. If at least to draw troops from Ukraine

I think ya'll should close the Baltic to all shipping to/from St Petersburg and Kaliningrad (from outside the Baltic).

I am starting to worry that Putin has made/coerced Trump into promising to not take action against him provoking European nato countries. The Russians are noticably bolder since the Alaska meeting.

Tonitrus

If one were to be worried that it is simply that the Russians think that Trump is ultimately both all-show and all-wimp, and will back down to actual shows of force...one would probably be right.

Or he has concluded that Trump only likes bullying/attacking foes notably weaker than him. And that Trump is too chicken to actually stand up to Russian aggression.
