Quote from: Syt on February 20, 2025, 12:23:44 PMTrump: Fuck Canada, fuck EU, fuck Mexico, TARRIFFS FOR ALL!!!  :ultra:

Also Trump: We will start business cooperations with Russia.

He did the same thing last time. Hostility to countries we have good relations with, friendship for countries who are clearly our enemies and we cannot trust.

Mercantiles empires need colonies. Putin is swindling Trump into thinking Russia can be one.

Basically I think Trump has two connected fundamental operating approaches:

1. Attack weak points to gain advantage.

2. Trust and interdependence are weaknesses.

I think this explains pretty much all of Trumps behaviour I've seen (with a solid helping of "I need to be the centre of attention", though I don't think that's super germane in this case).

Quote from: Zanza on February 20, 2025, 11:04:02 AMJust Fyi, Germany has built multiple LNG terminals since 2022.

I said real ones, not makeshift temporary active types.

QuoteThere are currently three active temporary LNG terminals in Germany (Wilhelmshaven, Brunsbüttel and on the island of Rügen) with four ships –so-called Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs)

Zanza

What's the functional difference? Honest question, I thought those ships work like a fixed plant.

Quote from: viper37 on February 20, 2025, 02:56:27 PMThe United States has stopped the sale of weapons to Ukraine

The marriage has been consumed.

Otto is happy.  His dream is coming true, more Palestinians will be killed by Israel while Ukraine burn.

A heck of a Freudian slip there

I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

If Microsoft Excel decided to stop working overnight, the world would practically end.

Razgovory

Europe could up the ante, seize Trump holdings in Europe.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Not the most reliable source, there.

I'd make #1 the conviction that all transactions are zero-sum.  He cannot gain anything unless someone loses.

Yeah I reckon that's also apt.

I guess someone forgot to tell the Ukrainians they're supposed to surrender. The 53rd brigade just entered Belgorod oblast.

It's hard to figure out what thread to put this in, but as discussed there were earlier reports that Trump is threatening to withdraw from Europe if they do not acquiesce to whatever "peace" plan he negotiates with Putin.

It appears that withdrawing from Eastern European countries (Poland, Romania, Czechia, and Hungary) were on the table during negotiations in Saudi Arabia but the US rejected it "for now": https://www.romania-insider.com/romania-usa-nato-russia-february-2025

I think Rubio will resign before that, maybe even as soon as Summers end, I don't even he could swallow being a part of such a 'deal'.
