And you can sort-of see the strategy here.  Flood the zone with enough shit, the Senate might refuse to confirm one or two candidates, but everyone else should sail right through.

Why, what did you expect? Just image the clown troupe at the end of his term when he has burned through his current picks and replaced them with even worse sycophants.

GOP controls congress. They'll probably all get through regardless.

The AG pick surprised me.  I thought we'd have someone who is less... rapey.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I expected something like his picks during his first term.

That party's gone and he knows people were trying to manage him and hates that. And I suspect many of those people have realised that they wouldn't be able to manage him and it would just end up with getting fired quickly, so they probably don't want to do the job either.

The right wing world have built a cadre of Trump-aligned people to fill all of the patronage roles the President in a way that just didn't exist in 2016 which meant he had to rely on the established GOP types.

Yeah, we just barely made it through 2017-2021. This time it will be far worse.

We will see if the voters in this country give a shit.

Man, it would suck Trump cut social security and I had to live on the street.

It would be a real drag indeed.

Yeah, agree with everything.  After consideration I think I expected more people like his earlier picks; people we think are idiots but are associated with policies he ran on.  Fucking Ukraine, nuking Gaza, deporting all illegals.  I don't see the connection between Gaetz and anything he ran on.  It feels like a purer fuck you to Democrats.

Senate.  GOP controls 53-47.  So not a large margin of error there.

Of course you also had those reports about Trump demanding to make recess appointments, which don't require senate approval.

Also 100% loyalty and willingness to protect Trump and his family from (Federal) legal jeopardy - which is what Trump wants most in an AG. Everything else is secondary, I think the job description is just no special counsels etc.

But I think that 100% loyalty is going to be key for basically all the jobs - and I suspect this could be one where he appoints Gaetz to get rejected and then get a dreadful hatchet man approved because they look good by comparison.

I actually knew that, slip of the fingers  unlike my other American political mess ups

A-G is probably the single most important Cabinet position to Trump.  More so than State (apparently Rubio) or DoD (Hegseth).

Jeff Sessions was apparently one of his biggest disappointments (and Bill Barr wasn't much better in Trump-world) so he wants a total loyalist there, to both ensure his own charges are dropped plus go after his enemies.
