Quote from: crazy canuck on February 22, 2024, 11:11:13 AMI read it, and it amazed me that you would have at least that degree of insight, but still accuse the news outlet of bias.

You're amazed that someone would consider the same factors as you, yet come to a different conclusion?

You either don't think very much of me, or think very highly of yourself.

I think your allegation of bias based on what occurred is without merit.  If you consider that to be a personal attack, that is on you.

One can disagree with an argument without dismissing it as being "without merit".

That's not a personal attack on you.  Reasonable people can disagree on things.

Quote from: PRC on February 21, 2024, 08:56:13 PMI've seen a couple of articles referencing Pierre's plans for porn sites recently (requiring users to add ID verification to access adult sites).

https://nowtoronto.com/news/pierre-poilievre-wants-porn-sites-to-id-its-users-but-some-canadians-arent-convinced-its-possible/

That raises a lot of concerns and many (every) Canadian should be concerned about that.  It might be a boon to the magazine industry though.

Why would it be a boon to the magazine industry?

Presumably because you can buy magazines without an Id

No one's gonna go from porn a la carte on your computer to buying magazines. Do they even sell magazines anymore?

Duhaime begain his carreer as a political adviser for the Bloc Québécois and the Parti Québécois.

Was there ever any doubt that Duhaime was anything else but an opportunist of the worse kind?
Not from me.

I'm just amazed the Conservatives want him.  He's a fucking loser.  He can't win anything.  All he wants is to crave attention.

It's a parent's responsibility.  You can easily configure your router to block all adult sites.

It's actually quite hard to install those parental controls.
No.  DNS on your router or your browser or Windows.  They will filter all kind of adult material.

Or

or see your router's instructions on how to change them there.

Very easy.

That's really the main issue.
Same with abortion.  People can't keep it zipped, so they have to control women's bodies.

I agree, but when an argument is without merit, it would be intellectually dishonest to pretend otherwise.

There are lots of things reasonable people can disagree about. Those are normally situations in which there is merit to both positions.  The circumstances in which you raised an allegation of bias, was not one of them.

It must be so nice for you to be able to make a list of which positions are intellectually honest, and which are not.

Fuck you.

That was a personal attack, just so you know.

Maybe, just maybe - think why people would get offended at these kind of positions and argument styles you take.  I mean I have no expectation you will - but maybe you can take this as an opportunity for personal growth.

And I don't actually expect you to agree with me!  But it would be nice to hear "I don't agree with your position, but I understand where you're coming from".

But you're not really capable of that.

I understand - it's the parable of the scorpion and the frog.  I always know who you are when I engage with you, and expecting you to change your character is my fault, not yours.

I am the one who should feel ashamed in this transaction, not you. And I am.  -_-

Outside of politics, there might be a new gang-biker wars brewing on.  It's getting close.

There's a new street gang in Quebec city that is refusing to pay the drug distribution tax to the Hell's Angels.  They're attacking the Hell's Angels, killing some, torturing some others.  Cartel-like violence.

In a small town on the south shore of Quebec city last week, these gang members surrounded some Hell's Angels members and tortured them, severing the ear of one, beating them, killing one, forcing some of them to scream insanities to the camera and saying they'd be working for them from now on, for the Blood Family Mafia (BFM).  In Saguenay, one hostage was taken, and later found, mutilated in Montreal, 400km away.

Then in a city 40 minutes west of here, another man was injured, again related to this war, last Thursday.  The police then raided some of the gang members home in the same city the day after.  So far, the Hell's Angels are keeping quiet, avoiding retaliation, apparently for fear of another mega-police operation against them.  Most of these guys are now in the 50s-60s, with few youngsters that could serve as foot soldiers.  The last thing they want is to spend their remaining time behind bars.

The Sûreté du Québec has mobilized about a 100 policemen in Eastern Quebec and in around Quebec city (mostly investigators from its organized crime unit) to investigate and arrest these gang members before it degenerates further.

I'll shed no tears for the Hells Angels if they get their asses handed to them in a gang war. They're scum.

Of course the other group is likely equally shitty.

In any case, the HA will have to respond if they want to retain their prime position. That's how it works.
