Initial phase is at least 10 times larger than the previous 2 eruptions. The fissure is roughly 1 km and fairly active.  :hmm:

It'll consolidate into just 1 volcanic cone eventually.

crazy canuck

Buy land, they aren't making it anymore - well ok almost true.

Since the eruption is at least an order of magnitude larger than we expected I hope the lava doesn't flow over the highway leading to the international airport in the next few days. I'm off to Japan with the family next Saturday and will be gone for 3 weeks. :hmm:

Reading text news on a screen? Ridiculous!

Still going in Switzerland. GFs dad always reads the news on there.
Their phone app is even made to look exactly the same.

But yes. I loved it in the UK. There was a humorous  daily gaming magazine I read every morning.

My dad was big into video text (as we called it) in Germany. After early retirement he spent most days watching news, and between news shows read text. In hindsight probably good that he never got to see the internet. :P

HD digital terrestrial TV was the final blow in France, ie around 2016.
Might be still going on in Spain and Portugal. Or is just for close captions for the latter? :hmm:

Actually, the pages of the commercial TV stations had some sections that the public stations didn't have. :D

Yeah, my dad has largely shifted to the Internet but one old routine of his that persists is checking football schedules and results on teletext. :)

Ditto, what was it called?

Good reviews and game gossip, had Violet Berlin writing for it.
