It is now Christmas Eve in Stockholm. That's the day of Christmas in Sweden. Merry Christmas people! Or God Jul as we say over here. :)
My stool is firm, but not hard.
Bah Humbug
Merry Christmas bro. :)

Have they burnt down the Julbocken?
I hear they have, yes.
God jul!
Good yule to you too. :uffda:
According to my Santa tracker app, Santa is in eastern China now. Hope they didn't pee-pee in his Coke
Merry Christmas all!
It just turned xmas.
My enthusiasm is non-existant. Its just a generic Wednesday here.
I'm stuck at work. Gonna take a nice long lunch and then leave early. Gonna swing by the brewery to drop off some presents and fill up a couple growlers before they shut down and then pick Tommy up from school (brewery & school are on the same road about a half mile apart).
Then later I'll take Tommy to church with me at 7:00 and afterwards my parents, brothers & I assemble at my place for a traditional beef & rice stew my wife makes for Christmas Eve. Watch the kids open a couple presents, eat some turron, pop open a couple Christmas beers, put the kids to bed, get the presents out, and enjoy my traditional Christmas Eve cigar. Tradition FTW
I'm at work. I have an impaired trial. <_< <_< <_< <_< <_<
Here's hoping the accused (whose lawyer got off the record) doesn't show up. We've been told we can go home at noon (unless we have trials running).
Assuming we get sent home, I'm going to finish off a tourtiere I started making on the weekend for supper, watch the boys open a present, probably watch a Christmas movie with the missus.
I'm guessing they'll be running the Christmas Story marathon again this year. If not, I'll just keep playing my blu-ray copy.
I just utterly ruined tomorrow's dessert :Embarrass:. Should still taste ok, I hope.
Merry Christmas everyone.
School on Christmas Eve?

Merry Christmas.
Let the kids open their presents this morning. After they exhausted themselves, I had a pretty mellow Christmas Eve playing Battlefield 4 pwning n00bs.
It would appear to be Christmas Day in my locality...just...
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Went to a Christmas eve service last night and have the day off today.
Merry Christmas!
I've had a super constructive christmas of deconstruction. Accomplished so much of my 'moving out to do list'. But none of the shops around about seem to have empty cardboard boxes. :hmm:
So far only one present from home arrived, so I opened it, it was a shirt and a jumper, it was doubly nice because combined with yesterday's jeans it meant I didn't have to open my wardrobe today. Efficiency! Fuck yeah!
Christmas dinner was: Indian.
As i think the farthest west Languishista, while it is still Dec 24th here, Merry Christmas to all of you mooks.
I just finished putting the second wave of gifts under the tree. The 'Santa' delivered gifts. The kids are gonna shit bricks.
Christ, I'm exhausted.

Merry Christmas my friends.
I got a rock.
Merry Christmas everybody. I got $350 in various forms of real and notional currency, a pledge to have my dental work paid for, and a pair of slightly used sneakers. I spent no money on travel because my sister picked up me and took me home on her way from and back to Charleston.
I gave my dad the Criterion disc of Bergman's Magician, which is great because his bootlegged copy was unwatchably botched. I also gave him a choice of one of my other Criterion boxes. Shrewdly, he chose the Yojimbo/Sanjuro set. I played some tennis with my father as I did on Thanksgiving and he beat me every time but I am getting better.

My bad.
A Swiss Army knife made to look like an owl? That's pretty cool.
Yesterday we went to my Grandfather's house for the afternoon and then CB's nephew's place for the evening. When we got to the nephew's house we found that almost everyone was severely inebriated. The men in the family had pounded through a couple fifths of whiskey and most of the women weren't too far behind. There was no point in trying to catch up; we were way too far behind and they were already done. It was a strange night filled with semi-coherent conversations.
CB's family does flaming shots at the end of the Christmas meal. We're responsible for bringing the flaming shot supplies. This year we needed a long stem lighter; we went to a store in Detroit to get it. The only one available had a leopard print pattern. It was a pimpin' lighter.
Ugh, we need to do toy triage for the kids. They got so much stuff. Gonna have to store some of it in the basement for now and gradually work it into the rotation. Also need to dump a bunch of the old toys.
Wish it was like the old days when you got fewer toys but they held up a lot better.
As for me, I got the bluetoof' speakers I wanted, plus a few books, Amazon gift cards, and beer.
Got the wife a new GPS which is way better than mine :hmm:

Are you kidding? A lot of the early 80s toys we got broke almost on contact. I'm surprised how durable some of my kinds toys are.
I agree though - the boys got so much stuff we have to start purging their old ones. <_<

Uh, no. You Canucks must've only had access to the cheaper stuff. A lot of my toys have lasted long enough to be absorbed into Tommy's collection. Die-cast Star Destroyer FTW.
QuoteI agree though - the boys got so much stuff we have to start purging their old ones. <_<
Problem with us is that we have to do it when the kids aren't around or they'll throw a fit over giving up a toy they haven't wanted to play with for 11 months  And even then it seems like we barely made a dent in it.
Michael had Toy overload. He was in a pile of stuff just standing there. I asked him what was wrong and he told me he didn't know what to play with next.
15 minutes later, he had his m-16 out gunning everybody down. I regret giving him that noisy thing now.
Tommy got 4 lego sets and was determined to put them all together before he went to bed last night. I let him stay up as long as he wanted, just to see how far he'd get. He got two and a half done, and was getting frustrated trying to put the Lego City rescue helicopter together half asleep towards the end. Finally gave up at 11:15pm & crashed on the couch.
wuss

I've realized I've become a person with too few hobbies or interests - so that the few I do have were the source of numerous gifts.
In particular, it was a very Winnipeg Jets Christmas. I got Jets vs Oilers tickets (awesome, except for the game result), a Jets hoody (nice), a Jets fleece blanket (err... well it's very warm around me shoulders right now), down to some Jets boxers ...
I got:
a new "tacticool chair" (camo camping chair with cooler)
a programmable learning thermostat (Nest)
another flashlight (I lost one this year)
$ to spend on airsoft (getting a P90/E90 for CQB)
and best of all, a great day with my kids and family and lots of food, my kids are The Awesome

Let me know how that Nest thing works for you. I've had my eye on one for a while but keep waiting for the price to drop.
The plan is to install it this weekend, and since it "learns" I guess it will not give you the most savings until a year or more down the road? I have no idea, I have not read up on it yet.

My (probably sucky) translation from German:
QuotePagans lament subversion of Holy Night by Middle Eastern redeemer religion
Is the polytheistic Occident dismantling itself? Pagan priests in Germany lament that the traditional festivities on 25th December in honor of the birth of the Unconquered Sun God are increasingly undermined by a strange religion from the Middle East. Instead of hustling after the newfangled Jesus-fad, people should remember the origins of the Holidays.
In a press release the Roman-Pagan Priesthood reminds that the birthday of the Sun God (Sol Invcitus) is an elementary part of occidental tradition (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sol_Invictus#Sol_Invictus_and_Christianity_and_Judaism).
Only the foreign infiltration by southern migrants ("Christians") and converts has led to to a slow corrosion of the actual values of the celebrations.
These days there's even chocolate depictions of bearded men from Southern Turkey ("Saint Nicholas") being handed out to children.
"If we don't face this increasing Political Correctness, no one will remember the original meaning behind the facade of the Holy Night in future," the press release says. This is not about consumerism, the family or any births in stables.
The original message of the holidays unites all people: "With the virgin birth of the Unconquered Sun God we mark that the fucking winter is half way over. If that is no Good News, then I don't know."
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2F2.bp.blogspot.com%2F-VOAo1Bb7bck%2FUrlO6r0o7aI%2FAAAAAAAAXxo%2FP51ZYXU1G58%2Fs1600%2FChristus_Ravenna.jpg&hash=a25dd7246134d35a5e4a4c75927cd40aae148e24)
"Even stole the sun halo from Sol Invictus: Jesus"
FAIL! Since they speak of Southern Turkey which did not exist back then.
Besides, the holiday season has as much to do if not more with the Saturnalia, Sol Invictus is another Middle Eastern redeemer religion.
I can't say I particularly care.
Yet you cared enough to post it. :P

I guess they are unaware that Sol Invictus is middle Eastern Deity, or that the theory that Christians stole the holiday from the pagans is fairly weak.

It's hard to tell since it's in German. Besides, it wouldn't be the first German neo-pagans to become concerned about Eastern influences on Germany...
